February 3, 2017 Timeless OC .95 Gap Feather (1) WDC-6 with Sunrise Synthetic Route 66 Rum Runner Another fantastic 2 pass near BBS shave this morning. Everything with this setup is just on auto pilot. I finished the shave up with a splash of Captain's Choice Bay Rum. I hope everyone has a great Friday.
SOTD February 3, 2017 Blade: Chinese Schick Razor: Schick L1 injector Brush: Omega 10049 boar Lather: Mitchell's Wool Fat Post: Witch hazel splash enhanced with Fine American Blend aftershave, Nivea sensitive balm WTG, touch-up Smooth shave with The Fat on the return of Fat Friday. Mitchell's is great soap. It's not better than some in my den but it's a top-tier performer nonetheless. I think the post-shave from Route 66 is better than Mitchell's. In fact the slickness from Route 66 might be better, too. Terrific lather today with a nice finish from Fine American Blend. I missed this combination all last month and was glad to use it again today. Have a great Friday!
February 3 (Friday) - focus with less flash and more technique Gillette Fatboy on 3 PAL Gold Thin Hollow Ground carbon (30) Muhle black synthetic brush The Eternal Tub of TOBS Avocado Cream ( croap ) Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Original Astringent A good slow and careful shave today resulted in no irritation even of the patches on my throat already irritated from yesterday's exuberance. The PAL blade was a bit tuggy today. I just realized that I had miscounted and run it for 6 shaves again instead of 5 between honings, which confirms that 5 is the magic number to keep it running well. I honed it right after today's shave. The fresh bottle of Thayers Original felt truly excellent today; the old bottle I discarded because I thought it was causing skin problems very clearly was rancid and I am now having doubts about my remaining half bottle of Thayers Lavender too. Trying to use stuff up is all very well but I pushed that one past the unwritten expiry date. Hope you all have a good Friday!
Thank you. It's really convenient since it is right off the patio which works for a lazy guy like me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
February 3 SOTD: Razorock Plissoft Brush Stirling Bay Rum SS Gillette SS Stirling Unscented PSB Stirling Bay Rum AS Just a easy, smooth shave. Not much else to say about this DFS. As always the Stirling Bay Rum is great. I hope everyone has a great day!
OOPS, I meant to hit like. As it is, you too Clint..Say, in that CC Bay Rum is the clove fragrance neutralized by the other fragrances?
3 February 2017 TGIF Blade/Focus Shave Buongiorno amci miei. I'm going to end the week the way I started it, with an Italian shave. Proraso Green Shaving Cream(tube), Omega 10098 brush, Dominello Vitali Calming Post Shave Moisturizer and Proraso Green AS. The GSB, with a little help from very tight technique by yours truly, accomplished a nearly BBS on it's last day in my NEW SC. Two passes, quiet alum and the GSB bears away the bell. Voskhod came close, but this week reminded me why the GSB was the defending champ. Starting Sunday a new audition will start. The Parker 99r my neighbor gave me needs a blade. The contenders will be: Feather Black, GSB, 7 o'clock Green and Voskhod. Should be interesting. The Omega 10098 will be front and center as I continue to break it in. There will also be an appearance by Route 66 Rum Runner, probably on Sunday. That's all I've got. Vi auguro una buona giornata!
OK, post-game show for this morning's shave-. Boy, the fellas at Dial(4 Men)know how to prepare a face&neck for a shave. The bodywash helps set things up well. I had the Slim set way down to 1, so it really didn't get much done. I had to use the Sensor Deuce as a "closer" again. I think I'll put another Astra Superior in the razor this week-end, give that one another go. Nice to have the Russian Leather soap and A.S. in use again. I think the Russian Leather will be the first of my soaps to cross the finish line. The A.S. will be around much longer.
