Not my first use of Tabac thanks to Perry @PLAla . Different that using a stick and face lathering, I wet the Maggard's knot and with a couple swipes produced an Arko like suribachi full of lather. Adding dribbles of water brought it to shiny thick perfect. Dropped a fresh piece of steel into the old razor and three passed + clean ups to BBS! Alum reminded me I ought to back down off setting 9 on my neck. Ed Pinaud's S.R. capped off a wonderful experience. After applying the AS, I like to run my hands through what's left of my hair. Getting my scalp ready should I ever go to head shaving ;)
    Good Shaves Y'all!

  3. :shocked003: That was a close one.
  4. That's an excellent brush you have there. Jim has really upped his game since he started brush making. It's been great seeing his workmanship continue to improve.
  5. Mmmm, I think Tabac is up next in my rotation. Love it!
  6. Fat Boy > Aristocrat > Slim
I traded off a Slim more than a year ago to @BigCabDaddy. I tried it hoping the longer handle would impress me. It didn't. FB FTW.
I do enjoy the user grade 46-47 Aristo I got in a trade with @twhite. It's lost the gold from the cap, but still shaves like a Prince. One day I might send it to Delta Echo for a fresh look.

  7. Jim and I had a bit of conversation after I sent the wood to him. I like that classic barber's brush profile but I didn't know how well cypress would take to shaping. He did an excellent bit of craftsmanship & made me a happy shaver.
I thought I wanted to get a two digit numbered handle from him. Really glad I waited and happy he took the commission.
At Jim @Jayaruh - I do hope you are recovering well from your surgery. We need more of your ART!
  8. Alright alright already. I give up. I just this minute bought (probably spent too much) a good looking Fatboy on Ebay. I'll do a bit of a focus with it when it arrives. Its coming priority mail so it shouldn't take too long.

  16. Yep, I had the same issues with my birth year Black Beauty. all you gotta do is open up the doors and slip the blade of a butter knife in the slot between the guard a the the baseplate .

If you need to open up the gap slide it in from the head side, if you need to close the gap slide it in from the handle side. then slowly and carefully bend the guard back in to place to straighten it out. If you want to make sure you have the gap set properly according to the adjustment dial you will need to check it with a set of feeler gauges. But for me just eyeballing it on both sides was good enough.
  17. Guess who else loves Tabac.....

  18. No reason a guy can't have both. Purely for research purposes of course.

What I do is tell myself I will try them both, keep my favorite, and sell off the other. It seldom ends up that way.
  19. For this month my rotation will be same shave for 4 days, then move to the next for same # of days, etc.
  20. looks like a nice tobacco combo, Rick.
