  1. Great review and setup Clint! :happy096: Have a Super Sunday! :eatdrink013:
  2. Thank you Mark. :happy088:
  3. Clint, your picture is beautiful. The Aristocrat Jr. looks terrific, and is one of the few razors I still have on my wish to try/buy (OK mostly buy) list. I am sure the results will get better for you as you get a little familiarity with it.

    February 5 SOTD:

    Omega Boar Brush
    Stirling Gentleman SS
    Merkur Futur
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Stirling Gentleman AS

I forced myself back onto my focus for today's shave. Just for the record, 5 shaves this focus, and 2 have been actually on focus. I am batting .400, which is a rarity in a baseball. If I keep this up, that would be MVP tyoe numbers.

As I was loading my brush this morning, the scent of the Stirling Gentleman just filled the room. I have converted a few of my Stirling soaps into shave sticks, which are great for travel and ease, but there is just something extremely satisfying about how loading a brush with a wonderfully scented soap seems to fill the room and set the mood for a great shave. Like all Stirling soaps, the lather was terrific. I set the Futur on 2, moving up a notch and went to work. The razor was smooth and efficient. I did two passes and ended with a DFS, verging on BBS. It was just a terrific shave. I have probably about 6 shaves with this razor, and I can honestly say that it may be my favorite. It is definitely up the list at this point. I am very impressed so far. I am going to enjoy this month (like usual).

I hope everyone has a great day!
  5. You must have bought that TOBS in a five gallon bucket.
  6. Another successful ATG pass. I'm getting this figured out
    Route 66 Frozen Margarita
    Jayaruh #44 Brush
    Henckels Friodur 72 1/2
    Lucky Tiger
    Azzaro Chrome Legend Cologne
    Have a great Sunday![IMG]
  7. Cool pic, Brian
  8. Thank you Jim. The Aristocrat Jr was on my wish list as well so when I saw the listing I had to give it a go. I am sure my results will improve as the week goes along.
  9. Beautiful setup and pic Jim. The Futur is a very cool looking razor and it seems to be clicking with you from the start.
  10. Cool pic, Jim. I really love the Gentleman too. It is also a favorite of my wife's, which is a plus. And a rarity.
  11. I'm a daily shaver.
  12. Focus shave #40:

    -Irving the Razor
    -Semogue 830
-Stirling Hot Apple Cider Soap and Splash

Irving handed me a DFS with little effort this morning. I think he knows he is battling for top spot in the rotation, and is giving me his best effort.

The Semogue is my oldest brush, I've had it since my rotation consisted of two brushes, and it has seen a lot of shaves. It is so broken in, it is as soft as many of my badger brushes. Semogues take a while to get broken in, but when they do, wow. I have been favoring Omega knots lately, but today's shave certainly makes me rethink my position.

Hot Apple Cider is one of my favorite wintertime soaps. I always seem to pick it when I feel chilly. My daughter says I smell like an apple pie, and it just makes me feel warm. I totally recommend it with two thumbs up.

    Enjoy the game everybody.
  13. Daily here. I enjoy doing it, and have gotten to a point where I don't like feeling scruffy anymore.
  14. Being born in Cajun Country rice has been on the supper table more often than potatoes. I haven't tried sashimi for my own fishing trips. It could happen as I know a very clean perch pond. I'm not one, but I've watched my father eat oysters right out of the water as fresh as they get.

I'm not a "need to shave for work", more as I feel like it. Some razors give me 36 hours til next shave; Straights, shavettes, The Bunny & other injectors. DE's commonly a 24 hour reset. If I skip a shave the next is particularly satisfying.
  15. I shave every day. From our first date, my wife has preferred me to remain clean shaven so that was the routine before I started using DE and SE razors. I will say that using soaps and DE/SE razors have made the experience more enjoyable.
  16. It acts like it's the bottomless magic Bag of Holding in Dungeons & Dragons, but it's really just a standard 150g / 5.3oz TOBS tub. So far it has lasted through a decade of intermittent use and 3 1/2 months of regular daily use during Focuses. It's old enough so its ingredient list still includes all the parabens and other stuff that most makers no longer put in their soap.

I can see a small patch of the bottom in the very center though so I think it is coming to an end. I expect it to run dry finally sometime this month. I'm betting around the 20th.
  17. I'm a daily shaver. I go from BBS to scruffy in 24 hours.
  18. You will need to perform some sort of ceremony when it finally gives up. Maybe it will fill back up all on its own???
  19. It's not a good idea to eat freshwater fish raw. They harbor much more bacteria and parasites than saltwater fish. You won't see freshwater fish offered in sushi bars.
  20. I wish! It is a great scent that my wife has yet to fully appeciate...
