I'm having a tough(but FUN tough)time deciding on my next Stirling package order. That is, will it be 2 aftershaves, or one a soap(of same A.S.).
Paul, I just have a half bottle or so of Pinaud Clubman. I decanted it into a Frank's Red hot Sauce bottle, as I thought it might dissolve the plastic container! I vividly remember the smell of Clubman from my trips to the barbershop as a kid. For that reason, I'll probably always keep it in my Den even though my Bride is not crazy about it. Keep up the great progress on the Slim and the lather building, my friend! The shaves will only keep getting better!
Well, that wasn't MY word....that's the name of one of the "clubs" in here. You're right about the strength of that H word.
It's about 50/50. It is mostly a mood thing, but I also have some brushes that I just feel are more suited for one than the other.
Your decant experiment reminded me of that nasty "practical" joke a woman played on her husband-it's on Youtube butI forget exactly where. She put tobacco sauce in his Old Spice bottle. Well, if some ladies out there don't like Clubman, perhaps others don't like Old Spice. Thanks for your encouragement on the Slim-that angle issue could be real tricky for me, but I'll work on it.
I'm considering a Simpson Wee Scot for my travel shave kit. It looks to be a decent brush for its size. Anyone have experience with it?
Are you a little brush fan? I have thought about getting one many times, but honesty just think about it, and can't imagine enjoying it.
You'll get the hang of the Slim, Paul! We're all here to help you and cheer you on! I made sure to rinse out that hot sauce bottle really well. I saw the video you were talking about.
I am almost exclusively a face latherer, but your lather is always so glossy. It makes me want to spend some more time with my scuttle.
It is one of the many challenges of Rod's site! But, I have conquered that challenge many times. Many more than my wife would ever have thought or wished me to, in fact.
Keep at the Slim, Paul. It is one step at a time, but then, one day, it will just fall into place for you.
Oh you saw it...great . And it's also great to get the help I've been getting here. By the way, this volunteer position you'll be doing sounds real nice.
Half of the pictures I put up were most likely a face lather, but they all start out the way I showed tonight. Usually when I bowl lather I finish it on my face anyway. Stirling is usually the only one I will push to the limit and finish in the bowl cause I am just so familiar with it. I was just thinking the other day, and in '15 and '16 I probably used it at least 500 times, if not closer to 600. I can probably mix that one sleeping.
I'm putting together a micro-sized shave kit for my carry on bag. I want to get everything I need for a 2+ week trip in the carry on, and that takes some creativity. I just thought it would be cool to get my whole shave kit in a small zip lock bag, and the Wee Scot looks like a capable brush. So far, it's a cart razor, blades, a tube of Kiss My Face or a shave stick, a small container of unrefined shea butter, and a small brush. I'm open to suggestions.
If you will be moving around from place to place, it is hard to argue against a small synthetic, IMO. Less worry about drying them out and such.
