Yup, keeping my eyes open for a deal on one of these. There was a knockoff brand that was available some time back. Anyone tried those? I found the seller, but they seem to be perpetually out of stock. With the cool looks, yet aggressive shave the originals pop up often. I've been using a Fat Boy on nine long enough I think a Futur on Neal would be a challenge.
When it comes to the fleamarket I don't pass on anything, well, except straights. I'll leave those to them that likes 'em.
I picked up a second G model, haven't tried it yet. All the Schick/ SE fans rave about model E. Then there's The Bunny V-3. Tom @twhite has mentioned he's working on a production run. There will be changes to accommodate more than the Artisian quantity. If V-4 can shave as well as the current ones, he'll have a winner.
The E and the G are very similar, you'll like it. The bunny was an excellent design in terms of efficiency and comfort.
I have one of the knock offs. I sold my actual Futur a long time ago, but missed it for the occasional shave so I bought one of the clones for $20. I cant tell a difference other than the color, and that it has no adjustment stops on the aggressive side. So this thing essentially goes to eleven. Or Exponential Neal. I think that if you are proficient with a jacked up Futur, you can shave with anything. They are surprisingly comfortable razors, but the term unforgiving does apply.
Thank you, Jared! You have just about summed up the Futur perfectly. It is fun and yet intense every shave when using Setting Neal.
Great pic and filter effect. Lather not turning pink is a win in my book. Hope you have a great Sunday and heal up.
Thank Jim. This will be a good week. I just have to remember to use a thinner slicker lather. Anything real thick just clogs up the Goose.
Thanks. It really added a necessity of focus to just take a razor blade straight to my face. And even now that I have developed a little muscle memory and a routine of sorts, it still requires concentration I didn't used to need. It has a meditational quality to it for sure.
Interesting. Unfortunately, the Cremo brush makes no notes of this information. Does Vie-Long have a standard mix?
Usually they will list the ratio for each brush. It varies a lot. I also find the feel of the exact same hair and ratio changes from brush to brush, A LOT. I like a good horse brush, and I keep picking up a new one every now and then, but I have only found two so far with knots I would call keepers. (Out of eight or nine) Gifts and Care in Spain is a fantastic place to shop Vie Long. They sell more models than any place I have seen, and will ship to the states very cheaply. I have bought several brushes from them. Great people.
Great place to buy Myrsol aftershaves as well since even with shipping the prices are still better than most. Really anything they stock that is out of the EU the prices are great.
