  1. SHAVE OF THE DAY
    20170223_225552.jpg

    Prep: Musgo Real orange amber
    Razor: Gillette Redtip
    Blade: Croma Diamat
    Brush: RazoRock plissoft
    Soap: Tiki Spice Islands
Post: Peach Thayers WH, Arko Maximum Comfort Balm

3 pass shave today. Got a thick lather from Tiki and the scent of Mango Cilantro is fruity and awesome. Shave went well, not BBS and did get a bit of burning from the Arko but it felt nice to shave anyways and the irritation was no fault of the soap. It was slick as could be. Hope everyone enjoyed their shave!

Well if I thought the Maggard synthetic knot would be a problem face lathering Arko - then I had no idea what I was thinking. I soaked the tip of the brush while I rubbed the Arko stick on my face as usual, then gave the brush one shake and went to face lathering. I wasn't sure what I would get. And I wasn't ready for what I got. I have never seen Arko spring up that fast. Just exploded into lather. And after I finished the first pass and lathered again for the second I checked the brush. It was absolutely filled with lather still. Unbelievable. I squeezed two handfuls out before rinsing the brush. Typical thick and slick Arko. And never easier to produce.

So, the JR46 handled the Fat, Tabac, Stirling, Route 66 and an Arko face lather. I'm pretty sure it can handle anything else I throw at it too. And yes, I am impressed with the synthetic knot. And it's still just an awesome wicked cool brush to use.

As for the shave, two passes plus a bit of touch up to a very near BBS with the NewLC and Wilkinson on its third day. What a fun and enjoyable three days that blade and this setup has produced.

  5. Glad you took one for a lather Jared. That is a good looking bowl.
I see a spout on the lower corner. Good place to catch a thumb as you lather up? What size is the bowl?
I used my first one (4-3/4" diameter) for around a year. My latest, acquired in a trade with John @Sparrow is a little larger (5-5/8") and steeper sided at the rim. I'm liking it!

  6. It is 6" ish. I never measured. I do like it quite a bit. It was also really inexpensive, so that is a bonus.

  7. It's hot here in Texas...and it's still FEBRUARY!! The high was 90 where I'm at, and it's the middle of the night now, and it is still 75!!
Time to chill down with some Stirling iced pineapple.

Wonderful shave with the Schick Xtreme3 this morning. This razor has always yielded excellent results for me and I'm glad I began using it for my face and not just my head shaves again. Marvelous protection from the Shave Secret shave oil and nice comforting scent with an excellent post shave feel. No balm required. Have a great day my friends. :)
