I just had one of the best straight shaves yet. Factory edge without even stropping it and I'm smooooth Stubble Trubble Pirate Cowboy Soap Doug Korn Brush Portland Razor Company Siren Razor Thayers WH Ogallala Bay Rum, Sage & Cedar AS Have a great weekend!
Feb 25 - GSB day 2 Merkur 34C HD Gillette Silver Blue - day 2 Homemade PSO Stirling Executive Man Alum (only to verify quality of shave) Thayers original Nivea SPSB Lather today was perfect. Rich , creamy and slick. It went on like thick one coat paint. Very smoothly and covered well. Again I kept a feather light touch on the razor. The GSB just seem to have more drag for me than the Voskhod and as such seem to irritate me a bit. Alum was very tingly and biting in some spots. More than the V. Not sure if 25 days straight of DE shaving is causing it or what, I do have some razor burn on the neck. Might need to take a day off tomorrow. Still, the GSB have remained sharp and I have a BBS shave. The blade is maintaining good sharpness so it is hard to say if this blade will require changing after 3 shaves. I think the bigger factor will be irritation.
-Kai Captain Kamisori -Manhandled Woods Ubersoft II -Jeeves of Hudson Street ~ Velvet Jacket Soap -Stirling Gentleman AS I seriously thought I was going to be able to claim BBS today, but I missed a tiny little spot under my ear, kind of behind my jaw. I used the alum to gauge how well I did, and it told me that I was a bit hard on myself. Face feels great now though, and I am a smooth unicorn. I got my raffle winning soap from Byron at Jeeves of London today, and WoW what a great soap. The tobacco, bay leaf combo is just a winner. I feel like I am getting some leather, a little wood, and just a hint of floral, but that may be from the tobacco too. I did a heavy load on the brush and went straight to the face with it. A ton of slick, glistening lather, that loved all the water I wanted to throw at it. Just a winner of a soap.
It's a no shave day today. I am on the retreat with two of dads and their daughters. We all shared the same room, so little sleep last night. It's been a great trip, though. I hope everyone else is having a great day.
Nice looking set up, Jared! I am going to add the Jeeves soap to my Buy List for once I am done with NB17.
Razor: Timeless .95 OC w/Timeless Knurled Handle Blade: Personna 74 Tungsten Steel (25) Brush: Shavemac Zebra Honeycomb 2 Band Soap: Reef Point Soap Tranquility Aftershave: Folsom & Co. Capri Bowl: Junichi Tanaka Scuttle Very good shave with these tools. The Timeless .95 OC is a fantastic razor period and with the Personna Tungsten Steel blade just improves the razor if that is possible. This blade is truly amazing. The Shavemac Zebra with their 2 Band is a work of art. All of the Reef Point Soaps I used this month performed outstanding. I'll have a new lineup starting tomorrow.
Beautiful photo Doug. The Personna 74 just keeps going and going. Do you think the blade will make 30 days?
Thanks very much Clint. Got a little bit of a tug today so I'm changing tomorrow. I did have a few shave that I did 4 passes. I'm sure I could get a few more shave with the Personna Tungsten Steel blade, however, I think it wore me out.
That's what happened to me at 21 shaves in. Still it is amazing how good the blades are. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks buddy, the soap is great. I like the Kai enough I do think it warrants buying the nice model eventually. Probably gonna be a while though. I spent all my den clearing stash, and am back to the piggy bank method of funding my shaving habit.
