Thanks, Jim. Glad you are having a fun weekend. Anytime a soap is that good the first time you use it, it is a very good sign. None of those "I broke the lather today", or "It'll take a few shaves to get the slickness dialed in" type excuses with this soap. Obviously it'll take a few more shaves to say for sure, but I am pretty sure this will go up on the top tier list.
Interesting. I live right by the big Mississippi river, but it isn't very big where I am. Right at the headwaters: A few miles downstream:
I know the feeling. I am in the enjoy what I have mode. I need to get things down to a manageable level.
This is a big problem with these 30-Day threads. Just from the last month or so, I have an "absolutely must try" list of soaps with Jeeves of Hudson Street, TSD, Route 66, Soap Commander, Reef Point and Stirling on it - and I am trying for NB'17 specifically because I think I may have too many soaps already. The enabling here is just vicious...
Never mind. It doesn't apply to us. Seriously, some folks have committed to a "no buy" 2017 with the idea that they will use and enjoy what they already have. The tendency for many in this hobby, myself included, is to amass so much stuff that they don't take time to appreciate and learn how to use what they already have. Granted, some folks are collectors, and that might lend itself to amassing gear with no intent to ever actually use it.
Feb 25, 2017 '52 Canadian Tech w Voskhod (1) Stirling Barbershop sample TGN Boar/Maple handle Thayers& Nivea Weekend shave. Day 11 of the humble Tech focus, Day one back with a Voskhod. Nice-paced weekend shave, weird results. All gear I have now used often enough resulted in a DFS. Nice, slick lather resulted in a smooth shave. What was different was that I started to itch on my neck soon after and it has lasted the evening. Could be a thousand different things, but not what I was envisioning for a night out with the family. Oh Well. Have a great Sunday tomorrow all!
My Mississippi River is bigger than your Mississippi River. The Missouri River which is nearer to where I live isn't a small thing either.
You get up by Granite City and that area with the steel mills and refineries and a gas mask isn't totally out of the question for needed gear.
I live by the Han river which runs through the centre of Seoul. Two pics from beside the river and two from my apartment. I think it looks better at night.
Day 1 Rooney silver tip I had not used Arko in a long time so time for some lemon pledge lather. Today's razor Wade and Butcher near wedge. Arko performed as usual and this is a big brush and makes lots of lather. I had to work to keep the lather wet enough for this near wedge razor. The edge was so smooth I was not sure if it was sharp and cutting, two nicks (one on my nostril) and weeper let me know I made a bad assumption, the edge is plenty sharp. I finished dolphin smooth but with a little blood and irritation(light). Irritation A- Closeness A+ Smoothness A+ Sharpness A
Day 2 Rooney silver tip I went for hot lather this Sunday using a scuttle, tea kettle and QCS. Today's razor a PRC custom damascus. QCS always performs great in high heat and this brush has just enough splay to soak up the heat. Not as much splay as my Kent BK8 but enough to keep things warm. This razor seems to keep and hold a great edge, today was no exception, very smooth and sharp. My usual 4 passes and no blood but a tickle from the alum, it maybe left from yesterday. Finished with a smooth face. Irritation A Closeness A Smoothness A+ Sharpness A
