SOTD February 28, 2017 Blade: Chinese Schick Razor: Schick I1 injector Brush: Two band badger with Surrey handle Lather: Route 66 Perfect Storm Post: Witch hazel splash, TSD Iced Barber Shoppe WTG, touch-up The Schick I1 wins again. Great razor and was paired today with incredible lather from Route 66. Really a nice shave! Hope you all have a great day!
You're either applying undue pressure or using a damaged blade. With very few exceptions the injector razors are mild shavers. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
Not as smooth as the injectors but a fresh shimmed GEM in the 1914 bettered recent shaves from its brethren, BBS all the way, no blood. I'm a believer again. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
I managed to get a pleasant two pass DFS this morning without any blood letting or irritation....a first for me using an open comb razor These Gem razors seem quite mild mannered compared to many of the vintage razors I've tried in the past.
A lot of folks seem to have a hard time with the OCMM describing it as quite aggressive. I also have good luck with it. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
Had 4 days of growth. First time shaving so much hair with the rocnel, had no issues and ended with great results.
Razor: Mongoose B2 w/ Timeless Dimpled Handle Blade: Kai Titan Mild (3) Brush: Oscar 11 w/TGN Silvertip Grade A Soap: Jeeves Soap Private Study Aftershave: Fine L'Orange Noir Very close 3 pass near BBS shave tonight.
Not necessarily. There's definitely injectors out there that are much harsher than others. Some people speculate that it's due to people being rough with the key and twisting it, damaging the head, and some speculate that it might be due to the variation in the heads, even between the same models. A good example is my two I2s. One is extremely rough and uncomfortable but if I put the same blade in my other, it's smooth as silk.
Yes a fair observation. I've also heard of some serious issues with both the PAL and Schick Adjustables. Any vintage razor can be damaged of course though some, like say a prewar Tech, you'd have to try really hard. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
The OC produced a fine shave with less effort than the CP. I'll need a couple more days with the OC to know for sure though
This razor has teeth, but can be a real pussy cat when treated right...She can give results like a str8 while being as well mannered as an injector.... You seem to be getting on with both your MMs from stroke one! And you know it will only get better from here....
Today I was pitting the OCMM against my ER 1914....Both were admirable...To tell you the truth....The MM, 1914 and Feather Weight all are giving me perfect shaves! If any has an edge...hmmm Well the 1914 is the LOUDEST and vibrates everytime a whisker is cut...So with a full field of whiskers she's vibrating like an electric hedge trimmer....lol...So That Maybe Gives the 1914 a Fun Edge...}8^)) I'm going to shake things up tomorrow and break out my Hussy....about time to see whats really happening !
Ohh I forgot to tell you cats....the other day I had an old friend swing by with his wife...Great to hang and try to catch up...When he said he needed to shave, and he was so PO'ed with the current crop of cartridges and he had thrown his electric away, a week ago. Said it was giving him a rash. Long story short....I let him try my PAL Injecto-matic and he had an epithany!! I had to let him borrow it til he can score his own!

Stupendous pair of amazing tools Clint. Half way through the week. That's the first time I used the word, "stupendous" at TSD.
