  5. SHAVE OF THE DAY
    20170304_211748.jpg

    Prep: Occams crushed lime
    Razor: Maggard Slant
    Blade: Gillette Green (1st shave)
    Brush: RazoRock BC Plissoft
    Soap: CRSW Jardin D'Orange
Post: Thayers Peach WH, Reef Point Admiralty Balm

2 pass shave this afternoon. Got a luxurious lather from CRSW, but ended up with a couple deep nicks and redness. I think I was too agressive with this razor, it's not as forgiving as the Icon X3 slant. I did get a very smooth shave but paid the price for it. Hope everyone had better luck shaving.
  6. Tonight's shave was with a razor that came in the mail today, was cleaned up, repaired, and honed.
In all the hurry, I guess I wasn't paying attention, because, when I went to shave, the first stroke made very little sound. It was a dull sound. All I thought was, "Oh Cr@p" , this is what I get for jumping the gun, and thinking this was going to be a great shave. When I honed it, it was a hair popper, and extremely sharp, down the entire edge. Now the sound told me something wasn't normal. I checked to see if hair was being removed, because there wasn't any tugging. Sure enough, smooth as a babies bottom. I looked at the blade, head on, and "Viola" it was almost a Full Wedge. In all my hurry, I never looked, or didn't notice.
Two pass, silky smooth shave, almost quiet. BBS result, without any issues. The aftershave went on without any tingling. Great shave after all.

The C.O. Bigelow Shave Cream face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #144 finest badger brush. I did two passes the Micromatic Open Comb and CVS SE blade, I ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with T.N. Dickinson's WH and then Pinaud Vegetal AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

  14. Thanks @Smooth Steve my non-dominant left hand is driving me nuts need to keep trying and I'm asking to all wet shavers who used either a straight razor or shavette, how long does it take you to master your non-dominant hand while using either a straight razor or a shavette be honest with me while I'm learning to used a IBC shavette.
  15. I use my off hand for a few spots on my neck where the angle seems to work better. The rest of my shave is done with my strong hand. For now just do what you are comfortable with, and let it come. Or don't. No rule says you have to use both.

I am sixty five shaves in and I still don't have that hand "mastered". I am comfortable with using it, but I need to pay more attention to my angles.

    Post - Cold compress, Alum

Well, another night of blood on the steel. This razor is not performing the way I would like and I don't think it's me. But, before I can decide that I'll need to take it through some Rule shaves to figure it out. I switched to the Soap Commander tonight as I am still working on comparing soaps and, while the damage was lighter than last night, I still managed to get a couple of nice bloody spots. This time around the goatee line on my right jaw and under the chin. The soap was very slick and nice so I can't really believe that's the problem. I'm thinking it's caused by the finish on the blade creating some drag and stick.

On the plus side I did complete two full passes before stopping and grabbing the Fatip to touch it up to a DFS. It was close but had a few spots on the neck. Part of that was me going lightly around last night's cuts. I think I'll back off to a New LC for the next few shaves to let my face heal up a bit then come back with a Rule setup for a few days with the Greager to try and figure out what the actual issue is. I didn't see this kind of activity for March but hey.....it's driving me mad figuring it out so that counts, right?

Hope you all are having a great weekend!
