1. Until I entered the seventh grade, my friends and family all called me by my middle name, "Wayne." Being a shy kid, and having entered a junior high where I knew no one, the teacher was taking role for the first time and called "Jimmie Roe." I answered, "Here." From then on, to everyone outside of my family I was Jimmie. Yes, Jimmie with and "ie." As my college adviser, also a Jimmie, said, "So, your mother had a sense of humor, too." Later, I worked on a framing crew where there was a Jimmie, a Wayne, and a JW. That is where the JR or Jayaruh was born.

Well, as time went by, Jimmie made room for Jim. Now, in my golden years, I have embraced Jimmie once more. So, are you a James, Jimmy, Jimmie, Jim, Gem, or Gym? Let us know your name's story. Is there a Jim Stone out there or perhaps a Jim Nasium? I am a lover of Gem razors. I have toyed with getting a GM Jimmy. Maybe we can get a conversation going.

  3. That is cool. Growing up there were not many Jimmies that I remember. There was Jimmie Dodd on the Mickey Mouse Club. I thought that that was pretty cool.

  5. He was a favorite actor of mine, and he served in WWII and in Viet Nam. He became a Brigadier General in the Air Force Reserves. That is the highest rank an actor has ever achieved in real life.

I'm Stephen, go by Steve, but Mom, Dad and brothers will still call me Stevie every now and then.
    My wife calls me Stephen.
Odd story of my name. I was named after my grandfather, Gerald (hard "G" as in gate) Leslie Mallar. Everyone called him Steve, even my grandmother.

  14. Growing up it's been either Jim or JJ. But when I got involved in coaching women's softball, one of the girls started calling me Jimmy Joe and that has been used by most of them. But I did have a friend in Grammar school that called me Jim Joe.
