Tuesday's March SE Maddness Dove Men Face Wash L'OCCITANE Cade Shave Soap Jayaruh #144 Gem Damaskeene CVS SE CWR, Asma Alum Block T.N. Dickinson's WH Pinaud Vegetal AS The L'OCCITANE Cade Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #144 finest badger brush. I did two passes the Gem Damaskeene and CVS SE blade, I ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with T.N. Dickinson's WH and then Pinaud Vegetal AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
This afternoon's shave: A new soap. "Whiskey" why not? I drink it so why not shave with it. It comes from the Portland General Store in Maine. It faintly smells like whiskey but also a mossy/woodsy scent is in there. I like it. The lather was really thick - like whipped cream (second photo). It is a very hard puck so I expect it will last. The rest of the set up - some favorites - G1 Fatboy with an Astra SP blade, Captain's Choice bowl, Omega Hi-Brush synthetic, Nivea balm, and finished with Cella after shave. An all around excellent shave. The wife even commented that the combined scent of the soap and after shave was very nice.
Tonight's shave was with a problem child of a razor. I have re-honed it a couple of times, and finally figured it out. I had a very nice two pass shave, that was very stiff feeling, but smooth. This is a big chunky blade. Almost BBS result, with only one weeper, on a bump, caused by one ingrown hair. I didn't know it happened, until the aftershave went on. Thanks!...and funny you should ask...because I was just about to ETA my post. In short...this stuff is FANTASTIC! I ordered this soap and after shave combo several weeks back and considering the amount of variety I have, I just got around to trying it out today. This easily just became one of my favorites! If you like vanilla and want to try something different, I highly recommend getting this scent combo. It's really good!
Thanks - it's very much a vintage disposable from the 1980's See a video commercial here that explains the name "Rectractor" a bit:
Today was an out the ordinary work day shave. I wanted to shave with both razors so I went with the Crowne and Crane WTG and XTG with Army/Navy by Lakeside Cutlery and ATG with the PAA DOC Results were phenomenal and some day I will be able to go ATG with a SR.
