It would be important for us to make sure future generations have enough Arko and Russian steel to last their lifetimes, or until they can reinvent them after it's all turned into "the nuthin'" Thunderdome might actually be fought over the last sharp blades.
Today was not a focus shave. The Magic Shavette was calling to me, and I answered. Popped in an Astra SP, lathered up the Henri Et Victoria Cognac and Cubans with the RazoRock Plissoft Big Bruce and went to town. The C&C soap doesn't rate as my top soap, but it does do a good job. The lather is not on the level of Tabac, Stirling or Route 66, but it isn't miles behind either. I got enough lather for two face passes and a head shave. It started to break down just a bit during the head shave. I am just smitten with the scent though. The Magic worked its usual magic. RazoRock Puros was the perfect aftershave match. I have pretty much settled on my little travel Gillette Tech as my perfect head shave razor. The super short handle on it gives me the right angle and amount of control. I used it with a Voskhod and got a fantastic head shave out of it. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
Thank you. It is a green fougere scent with a little citrus, inbetween Green Irish Tweed and Rive Gauche. The scent dissapears after the shave so no interference with the Fahrenheit. I was in the mood for some oil infused leather.
March 8, 2017Mongoose B2 with Triad TiFeather Pro Super (4)ATG “Rowl” Shavemac D01 2 Band Flat TopRoute 66 LumberjackFine Fresh Vetiver A change in my plans for the week. The Chubby 2 Synthetic is benched so I can use the Shavemac Flat Top today. On the maiden voyage I was struck with the sheer size of the brush, the tremendous backbone and super soft tips. I will update my impressions after using the brush more next week. I can say that it literally eats soap and makes a mountain of lather. The shave this morning was consistently boring. Two passes and touch ups ending in a near BBS which is a great work morning shave. I finished off the shave with a splash of Fine Vetiver. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.
I used canned cream today(Rise), but it means I get to use the Jayaruh 59 brush for two consecutive soap shaves. It's back to Stirling Barbershop/Clubman tomorrow.
Great picture, Clint! Is everything thing in color, or did you hilight the brush somehow to show it only in color?
March 8 SOTD: Razorock Plissoft Brush Stirling Frozen Tundra Gillette Slim Stirling Unscented PSB Proraso Green AS It was a great two pass shave this morning using some Stirling Frozen Tundra and the Gillette Slim. Nice and smooth. I love the scent of the Frozen Tundra, and like all Stirling soaps, the performance is hard to beat. The Proraso after shaves are really good, I will be using both of the ones I have more often. I hope everyone has a great day!
March 8, 2017 Gillette SA w Astra SP (2) First Canadian Soap Co- Maximo Gomez Cuba TGN synthetic/mahogany handle Thayers Stirling Gentleman balm Day 5 of the SA, day 2 with the Astra. Kept the razor at 5 for all 3 passes. That was probably a mistake as I got a series of weepers on the ATG pass to end. Really close shave, though! Tomorrow I'll look to go something like 6,5,3 on the 3 passes. The Astra has, as always, produced a couple of smooth, efficient shaves. This was my 2nd time on this soap, and man does it make for a great smelling, slick lather. The Thayers took care of most of the weepers, and I finished with the Gentleman for a full tobacco overload! Have a great day all!
Razor: Supply Provision Custom 3 dot head Blade: Chick Brush: That Darn Rob silvertip Soap: L&L Grooming Marshland Post Care: Thayers Witch Hazel Osage Rub Alum Aftershave: Tallow and Steel Rainforest A couple of firsts in this mornings shave. First use of L&L and Tallow and Steel and my first use of a silvertip brush. I really enjoyed the Marshland soap; easy lather, slick, protective and with a great scent. The Tallow and Steel complemented the soap wonderfully and has great post shave feel. I really enjoyed using the brush; the handle has a nice feel, it's a perfect size for face lathering and lots of backbone. Very different from my synthetics but worth getting nailed down. All in all it was a great way to start the day. I'm officially kicking off my focus for this month with today's shave. I'm exclusively using the silvertip to learn it's ways as well as determine if I want to keep it or swap for a synthetic. Have a great day folks!
SOTN March 7th Ever-Ready Shovelhead Gem Stainless(3) Ever-Ready 200T Arko Italian Barber Amici AS Another shave with the 200T that I re-knotted with a 24mm TGN finest. I'm really not very happy with this brush and I think I need to set the knot a little deeper. I feel like it splays too much when loading and is a bit on the floppy side. The Shovelhead however is turning out to be an excellent performer. Its very efficient and is really providing very close long lasting shaves. Finished up with a spray of IB Amici. I really love this spicy grapefruit scent, I hope they never stop producing it. Have a great day my friends.
