I came home to a couple of new straights.
Top one is a an Imperial Razor.
Bottom is a Geneva Cutlery Corp.

I really like the engraving on the Imperial and think it will clean up nicely.

A small slab of horse chestnut arrived a while ago. Now I just need the time to cut it up and work some handles out of it.

The anticipation is killing me... If it doesn't make it out on the truck. I'll have to go pick it up. I'm like 2 streets away from the post office.

I hope so. Some parts of the slab are too unstable to work with, but I'll get quite a few workable pieces.
I'm sending a couple pieces to @Jayaruh, so there should be a few brushes from this slab floating around soon.

Hi @Darkbulb do you have a 100 mm handle as well? What is your preference? Is one better balanced than the other? Thanks

    Weekend scores.
Saturday found these Filarmonica scissors. I cleaned them up today and my daughter used them to give me a haircut. Got them for .25 cents. [IMG][IMG]

Today a found a straight and a strop. The strop has no nicks and should cleanup great. The razor should cleanup nicely. Got these for $20 total.

Didn't buy these, but chanced into another inheritance. I've been extremely fortunate to build a collection of a wide variety of razors almost entirely of family pieces; each one means something. The uncle of a family friend recently passed away, and his belongings included some razors which my mom thought I would appreciate. So now I get to curate these beauties.

Left to right, top to bottom:
    2013+ MicroTouch One (Weishi)
    1978 Gillette Atra Y2
    1965-72 Schick Injector M1
    1974 Gillette Super109 Super Adjustable U4
Also, several packages of blades: MicroTouch One (Dorco Platinum ST300) and Van Der Hagen (Blitz).

For me, the Schick is the gem of the bunch. It's my second injector and one I wanted to find. If it shaves as well as my G6, with the added feature of adjustability, it may well be my favorite razor. So excited to shave with this one.
The Atra joins its twin, a Y1 that was my grandfather's.
The Super Adjustable will replace a T3 that I have no family attachment for.
I shaved with the MicroTouch One, so I could say I did. ;) Underwhelming and very mild with my usual Astra SP blade.
All the same, you can almost read the history here, making some assumptions. It's easy to see the SE Schick giving way to the DE adjustable, then cartridges and the as-seen-on-TV One. With the benefit of hindsight, each of those steps baffles me a little bit, but it's easy to be seduced by "progress." All the same, I wonder what the thought was behind purchasing the One, when the Super was in a cabinet or drawer somewhere.

Nevertheless, I'm honored to receive these and use them.
