  1. Never really thought about it honestly. If the opportunity presented itself(fleamarket) I would probably give it a shot. But I'm perfectly happy DEing.
  2. Great picture, Keith!

Another automatic near BBS 2 pass shave this morning. My perfect work morning shave is quick, enjoyable and drama free. A splash of Fine Vetiver and I am off to finish a couple of business tax returns and extend the rest. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

  8. I had a similar experience with the Voskhod. It had a rather short functional life. Have you tried a Rapira Platinum Lux yet ? It and GSB's are the only 2 blades that I like better then the Astra SP
  9. Beautiful photo, Mark!

I survived, and blood free even. As I started, I honestly realized this was not the smartest thing I have ever tried, and a bit of doubt crept into my mind. I pushed aside my common sense and went for it anyway. Definitely a different experience. On the cheeks, it was able to get amazingly smooth, on the nooks and crannies, not so much. I did let my common sense take over and kept myself to a WTG pass, so I would rate this shave as a SAS, more than good enough for the training class I am in today (especially since I had halfway expected to have some blood flowing). I have a small bit of satisfaction getting through this as well as I did, but am definitely looking forward to getting back to a safety razor tomorrow. I hope everyone has a great day!
  11. Thank you Doug.
  12. Great picture. Glad you made it through blood free. I would not have even tried.

Day 10 of the '69 SA 109 focus, day 3 of the Polsilver SI. 6,5,3 for the 3 passes again. Will try at 7 tomorrow, as I am getting smooth shaves at these settings with just a bit left on the neck. I'm 0 for 2 on good lather the last few days, as it was a bit thin again today. Not usually a problem for me, just too careless I believe. Still a nice shave, though. Will get one more day from the Polsilver and then switch it out for a Sharp Star. Have gotten efficient and smooth shaves from the Polsilver the last number of days.
Balanced the very faint and subtle Apothecary with the not so faint and subtle Reserve Spice.
    Have a great day all!

  16. Day 20 of 30 days of straights

Another day with my Henckel 6/8 Round Toe, and another nice shave. Not quite BBS and with 2 small cuts, but very nice.

I am liking the ABC more every day. It is a very slick croap, easy to lather, and smells great (assuming you like almond).

    St. James Pre-shave Oil
    ABC
30mm High Mountain White set an extra 10mm deep
    3 passes, WTG, XTG, XTG
Penhaglion Bayolea shave cream soothing gel
    6/8 Round Toe Henckel 17 1/2

Thanks. I still don't quite have it yet. I still continue to give myself light cuts. But, I figure that is due entirely to my lack of Laser-Like Focus.

  17. Wow, this went much better than expected. I was sure that this would not work and I would have to finish up with my straight.
The first thing I noticed was how noisy this thing was. The shave was louder than any of my hollow ground razors. The old buttering toast sound.
I was pleasantly surprised to be blood free after the first WTG pass and decided to throw all caution to the wind. I followed with an XTG pass. While I am not BBS, I would call this DFS.
I think my daily shaves with straight razors is what got me through this shave. No pressure was the secret.
The cool thing about this is the shave was much better than my first shaves with a Feather in my Edwin Jagger a couple of years ago.
    Have fun!

Another great shave out of the Schick C1, They keys to success with this razor, like any aggressive razor, are keeping a light touch and riding the cap. This think really mows down the whiskers in short order. Two passes was all it took. One small observation after using the Shovelhead last week, the shaves with the C1 don't seem to be quite as long lasting. Have a great day my friends
