You were our last hope for bloodshed...congrats to you and our other brave souls who endured this shave, you deserve a nice hearty applause
I always have mixed feelings when I survive one of these things unscathed. Certainly happy not to be in the ER trying to explain how it happened, and yet somewhat disappointed I couldn't be better entertainment. Ah, well, you do what you can.
"Just proud to be here and happy to help the Team." Wouldn't want Mars the God of War to feel dissed on a festival during his name month after all... Bad Things used to happen to mortals who dissed the ancient Greek and Roman gods (although more the Greek than the Roman ones). Very touchy and vindictive they were. I'm not sure who the God of Shaving was, but it was quite possibly Mars, given his predilection for sharp, pointy objects and also the fact that the Roman legions in the Republican and early Imperial eras went cleanshaven... Anyway, it sounds like I bled more into the sacrificial bowl tonight using my "safety razor" than all of you carriage bolt shavers put together. Ain't life grand?
Switching over and trying all the old style razors has been strange. I got cut way more often with aggressive DE and Injectors than with open blades of any sort. (If an alum block pass stops the bleeding, it's not a real cut.)
Skin stretches make sure all razors safer. It sounds like today was good for you. We probably learn more from days like today than from the days we catch the baby.
Yeah, I was getting quite blase switching around between my various razors. Tonight was that little nudging reminder that they all have razor blades in them that are called that because they are cutting blades with incredibly sharp edges. And you really can't be casually careless with any of them. The 1914 EverReady probably needs as much attention paid to it during use as the Fendrihan Scientist did for me, and I picked it up and treated it like a FatBoy set on 1... As they say, "good training".
Adam, I wish a new appropriate words to give you comfort at the difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I had an early meeting that was going to be ugly with our regulators. To preoccupied for a straight razor today. So to wake myself up I went for a noisy shave, I loaded the PAL hollow ground into my Futur and cranked it wide open. As expected it was noisy shave, first three passes and then down to 4 on the Futur for ATG. Some tingling for the alum but long time dolphin smooth.
@Drygulch Adam, I know how hard it is to lose a Mother. I'm praying for peace and comfort for you and your family during this time of loss, and wisdom for the choices that often have to be made during the days that follow.
Yes, I really liked the TGN Silvertip Grade A knot. As a matter of fact I'm considering ordering this knot for my unknown brush.
March 16 SOTD: Stirling Synthetic Brush Cremo Sandalwood Gem Junior Stirling Unscented PSB Clubman Special Reserve My first use of this new Cremo. I will reserve final judgement until I have a few shaves with it, but the first shave was not promising. The lather dissipated fairly quickly. It was slick, and the scent was pleasant enough. I did manage a DFS with the Gem Junior. I hope everyone has a great day!
