  3. SOTD: Late posting of an early morning shave using this vintage Friedrich Wilhelm Engels "Leader" 13/16" round point; Crowne & Crane "Cranberry Spice" tallow soap, Jayaruh custom 24mm synthetic brush, and my usual 'Snake Bite' finish.
Lather smells like 'Christmas in March'—and provided a slick foundation for a great shave! Have a blessed Thursday, all!

    Mastro Livi CarboInox Kamisori, 7/8

In my collection I have many kamisori razors, both traditional ones made in Japan - and all of them being "vintage" - as well as modern ones, most of them being made by Mastro Livi. It has been quite a long time since the last time I used a kamisori, so today I opted for this breathtaking Mastro Livi CarboInox kamisori. It is a 7/8 blade with a mesmerizing Mastro Livi twisted carbon damascus steel in the middle layer, wonderfully making a perfect match with the shiny stainless steel outer layers. A super performing shaver, this Mastro Livi kamisori gives a very very close shave while delivering a lovely smooth sensation on the skin. Not to mention the superlative performance of Mastro Livi "Pennello Italiano" shave brush, a super silvertip badger brush having a handle made of five different woods and an insert made of semi-precious stones with the colors of the Italian flag. The soap did a magnificent job - Saponeria Artigiana is, in my opinion, one of the best Italian shaving soaps - which found in Pinaud Clubman Classic aftershave a great companion. Superb shave!

  10. First time Trying Lis's Natural Shave Soap and have to say impressed with the quality of the shave for the price point these soaps cost in the tin. I went with Bay Rum and to my nose a cross between B&M and Krampert Bay Rum and strong in scent. Had to rush this morning so lather not the yogurt consistency that I like but slick razor glide and smooth post shave feel. It is tallow based with two clays, silk, lanolin, mango butter and green tea. At $7.95 for 4.5 oz tin is a steal. I also bought her Sandalwood Patchouli which smells great and her Orange Clove which intrigued me as she uses orange peel powder as well as Sweet Orange EO. She has a 10% coupon right now for St. Patricks Day "4LEAFCLOVER" if you wish to give this artisan a try.

It took a lot of searching to finally land a C3 but it was worth the wait.

  14. If my 1941 Russian is possibly my favorite, this 1970s Russian from the STIZ factory is a close second. Wonderfully sharp but smooth, it left me with another face-rubbing goodness shave this morning. :happy036:

  15. That looks like a 16 oz. Special Reserve. How did you get one THAT size?????

    Personna Super (1)
    Nivea créme preshave
    Proraso/Omega boar
    Proraso red
    Hema Shea Butter ASB

The headshaves are going very well and just about all of them without any nicks.

My first shave with a Personna blade I think, and it was very good.
Curious to see how many shaves I will get out of it.

After two passes I can still feel some stuble...
I'm already thinking about getting a slightly more effective/agressive razor.
Any suggestions for a headshave razor?

The Nivea créme does a great job as a preshave and de Hema ASB finishes things off nicely.

  19. I'm glad to see your head shaves are going great!! I use a Schick Xtreme 3 disposable, when it comes to DE or SE razors I like using an injector. Keep doing what you are doing if it's working. K
