I managed to shave at 4:15am without injury and made it through airport security. Not a bad way to start a day. I'm looking forward to getting home to my lovely wife. Travel SOTD TSD Bourbon Vanilla Soap AoS Pure Badger Brush Jacob Ray El Diablo Razor Mennen Skin Bracer AS Have a great Friday!
That explains it. My Gem Junior has a brass head clearly marked "Gem Junior" on a black plastic handle. Although that handle, while a bit plump, is nowhere near as fat as some I've seen pictured... So far, I would pick the 1912, although the 1914 did feel smooth - until I saw the results. And I am really not stuck on the cap latching system... I will try again with a 1924 in much better condition than the first one I used. And I may try a couple more shaves with the 1914 again too. In both cases, after waiting a few days for the nicks and grazes to heal up...

March 17 SOTD: Razorock Plissoft Brush Arko Gillette Aristocrat Jr. Stirling Unscented PSB TOBS Sandalwood AS This was my first shave with this razor, which @clint64 was kind enough to part with. This was one of my wish list razors, so I was looking forward to this shave. I did two passes, and it was very near a BBS, which is pretty good for a gym shave. After yesterday's disappointing lather, the Arko was a nice bounce back. It really all just came together for me this morning, and I feel great. The TOBS Sandalwood left my skin nice and soft with a great scent added as a bonus. I hope everyone has a great day!
It is always fun when a guy starts delving a little deeper into a new style of razor. When you are looking for some of the newer models, don't overlook the Featherlight. It looks kind of like a cheap toy, and it is really, really mild, but it is a stupid good shaver for what they can be had for. It was one of only a few of them I liked to shave with.
I am pleased that the Aristocrat Jr found a good home where it will be appreciated and fully enjoyed.
Day 22 of 30 days of straights I managed a BBS this morning with no cuts and 2 weepers. I am getting better at not slicing my own neck, but I am still struggling to avoid the weepers. Straight razors have a much steeper learning curve, IMHO, than do DEs. March 17 Gillette SA w Sharp Star (2) WD High Mountain Badger Proraso Green Thayers Unscented Stirling Barbershop AS Day 12 of the '69 SA 109 focus, first day with the Sharp Star. 2nd day for this particular blade as I used it for one day in a Tech last weekend. Went 7,5,3 again for the 3 passes. Am getting consistent shaves with this razor, with just subtle differences between blades. Used the Proraso green this morning as I've been enjoying some Menthol in balms (and as a hope that Spring might be arriving soon!). The lather was consistent as always with this soap, but after cycling through so many high quality artisan soaps, it doesn't feel quite as nice afterwards. I am starting to dig the menthol feel, though. The Sharp Star doesn't feel quite as sharp as a Polsilver or Astra to me in this razor, but still did a nice job with the 3 passes and touchup. No weepers today, but did have a bit of sting and redness after the Thayers and then Stirling splash. Who knows why...I'm not worried about getting to the bottom of it today. Have a great day all!
