I'll post this in here too. I had to get off to work and didn't have time to expand on my shave experience this morning.

Wow!

I had my first real shave with all the products combined this morning! How was I living without a hot lather shave all this time???

Step 1 - I microwaved the scuttle water until it boiled and while it was microwaving


Step 2 - I put hot water from the tap into the bathroom sink to make the sink itself a bit warm.


Step 3 - then heated a separate cup of water until it boiled.


Step 4 - Then I drained the sink water, and refilled it with the cup of boiling water+hot tap water.


Step 5 - then placed my boiling hot scuttle in the hot sink water.


Then I took a shower and when I got out the water was still 'hot' and when I made the lather.....wow!



This lather was even MORE creamy, even MORE cushiony and it felt fantastic on my face. So warm, so soothing.

I fully understand now why it's such a luxury to be able to use hot lather. I am going to have to purchase at least one or two more scuttles of different colors for my other sets. I'm SOLD and a huge believer now in 'hot' lather.

And the hot lather, great soap and slant razor made for an awesome shave. I think this may have been the best shave I've ever had. As good as any luxury old school barbershop shave.

Don't flip out about my scuttle top looking a little weird in the final picture. My scuttle was made in two pieces and the top comes off and can function like a stand alone lather bowl. It was made by Karen Goldberg of Karen's Pottery.

Today's event was cool and smooth. I've been issuing aggressive razors all last week (floating head followed by r41). Today i shifted gears to a tech. I'm writing about a shave 15 hrs ago, and I'm still pretty smooth, and have had that feeling all day. Black ice n'osage cool mun' cool.

First day of Spring today so Happy Ostara everyone! And, with perfect timing, it was suddenly 85 in the Lou today. SWMBO spent the entire day in the yard working on garden beds, I mowed the lawn for the first time this year and then cooked a ham for dinner. The ham has nothing to do with Spring - just happened to be the day.

After a busy and warm day that included packing up some Russian steel to lighten the load here I decided to stay with the Detente setup from last night. Just changed to Tabac with the Omega and gave it a two pass and touch up shave. Nice DFS finish and quiet alum to make it a great way to end the day. I will probably go back to a pain stick tomorrow and head toward the last ten days of the month on the aggressive path I started on. Hope the new season is off to a good start for everyone!

The lather looks like chocolate mousse, but does the job perfectly. I added water more slowly this time and it paid off in thicker lather. The Futur comfortably reduced my whiskers without drama. A cold water rinse and I finished up with Night Music splash.
