I really think he's confusing Arko with Williams. I'm with @Bama Samurai.....I think he's been going nuts with the Osage Rub again.
Williams and Arko are the same thing for different sides of the earth. If Williams would lather more easily in my water, I'd probably use it.
Thanks. I blame my recent expansion of soaps and brushes on this group. The enablers here are much more subtle and sophisticated than I realized. It started with the Route 66 gift and then accelerated with a "suggestion" I might want to try Stirling. I managed to control it with only a few sample pucks from there (I have another list working there but don't tell my wife) and then with another "suggestion" of Soap Commander followed by the arrival of a gift of the Courage. (They have samples there too, right?...again....let's keep that to ourselves). As for the brushes - I couldn't resist adding a Jayaruh to my collection so the raffle win allowed me to nab it. Just so happened to be a synthetic knot, which I resolutely refused to even consider before that. Ok, a little curious, but hey....I'm all about vintage and tradition. None of this stupid modern synthetic stuff for me. Until I tried it. Then I get an email from West Coast announcing their new line of synthetics. I resisted for a week or so but got bored late last week and wandered over. It shipped today. (But I got two free tucks of Astra SP so that offsets it, right?) There's still enough empty space in the bathroom cabinet that I can call myself a minimalist. And I solemnly swear that I'm going to settle on the best of the bunch and focus on that one product. Honest. No, really. I mean it. (You know I don't have a Simpson brush yet either, now that I think about it)
If Williams would lather at ALL I'd probably use it as well. Although I'd prefer them to remove some of the citronella smell. Arko smells like strong lemons to me, with a soapy base. Williams is all citronella. Modern Williams, of course.
April 4, 2017 Wolfman WR1 OC Feather (3) Doug Korn DK7 with Druida Manchurian Nuavia Rossa Another excellent shave this morning. The Rossa soap is easy to load and the DK7 whips it into a rich lather quickly. Three passes and some touch ups ended in the usual work morning near BBS. I left the soap from the brush on my face while I cleaned up the area. This left my face well moisturized and the scent lingers for a long time. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.
Clint, your last few pictures have been outstanding. You have done a great job of capturing this set up!
SOTD April 4, 2017 Blade: Chinese Schick Razor: Schick adjustable injector Brush: Artisan badger Lather: Soap Commander Fortitude Post: Witch hazel splash, TSD Russian Leather aftershave WTG, touch-up I chose Soap Commander this morning and went with the Tobacco Tuesday idea. Fortitude is a great scent and all Soap Commander is great soap. Slick, rich, and amazing post-shave. Schick Adjustable on 6 for a smooth ride. No complaints here. Focus will progress soon as I switch razors to something else, perhaps the Personna injector that doesn't get as much use as the other Schicks I have. Have a great day!
Gillette Tech (triangle slots) Bulldog Handle Polsilver Super Iridium (3) Arko SS Semogue BC Mistura Superior 70 Before yesterday, it had been a while since i used Arko. It was easy enough that I used it again this morning for a nice 2 comfortable 2 pass shave.
April 4 SOTD: Omega Boar Brush Gillette Aristocrat Jr MWF Stirling Unscented PSB Two Girls Florida Water AS I broke out a Rapira Swedish Steel blade today, which is my first use of this blade. Oddly, it seemed that one side was quite a bit smoother than the other. I got a good, two pass shave in for a DFS, but for whatever reason, the one side of the blade was just a bit rougher than the other. The MWF provided a really nice lather, as I worked on getting it properly hydrated. I was rewarded with the best lather I have had from this soap. I also used Two Girls Florida Water for the first time this morning. Thanks to Enabler Extraordinaire @RyX and my enjoyment of M&L Florida Water, I had to try this one out. It has quite a bit more lavender and the citrus is not nearly as sweet in this version. It is done very well, so I am happy. NB17 seems like such a distant memory, almost as if it was only in a dream. I hope everyone has a great day!
