Well the Omega Pro 49 results have been duplicated. Another great three pass shave with lots of lather left over. It's officially out of the cabinet and on the counter with my Shavemac and my synthetics. What a relief. For a while there I thought I had wasted $10.

Razor: Gillette Fat Boy Adjustable (G3) 1961
Blade: Personna 74 Tungsten Plus (4)
Brush: Elite Razor Tres Amigos Desert Ironwood Beehive w/Envy White
    Soap: Arko
    Aftershave: Old Spice Fresh Lime

This is one of my favorite Gillette razors. I had an early 3 pass shave with a good clean up. Everything worked very well. I haven't used Arko soap very much, but I was surprised how well it lathered.
Have to go to a meeting tonight that is why an earlier than usual shave.

I find that if I lather the trouble spots, I still don't get them because I can't see them. Whereas if I just use water, I can get up close and actually see what I'm trying to cut off.

If the soap I use has enough residual slickness I just use water for touch ups as well. In fact that is one of my criteria in evaluating a soap's slickness.

Thanks very much Clint. Yes rain is a good thing this time of year.

By the time I get to my clean up pass, I have done a couple of passes, and run my fingers over my face, trying to find the ATG spot that still needs a little touch up. I identify the areas that need it by feel, much more than sight. I agree that some soaps have enough residual slickness for a little touch up, Clint, it just sounds like this might be causing irritation. You have to have your technique (no pressure) really down before being able to avoid irritation with no lather.

I agree Adam. I usually squeeze out the remaining lather in the brush and apply that for my touch up.

Oh I agree and would recommend using lather for touch ups. In my case, I just have really tough skin and I have to screw up badly to cause irritation or razor burn. I used to carry a Bic Disposable razor in my BDU pocket when I was in the Army. Out of boredom, I would run it across my sweaty face just to stay alert. ;)

It is with this razor, the Popular which is going on hold for a bit. It isn't bad with my V3A. With the Popular though I find I need more pressure to actually get anything accomplished, to the point where I am overdoing it.

Late post for this morning's shave. Day 3 of the Canadian Old Type focus, day 3 for the Sharp Star. Early 20th century razor pictured on an early 20th century phone.
The WD brush produced a ton of nice lather from the Tcheon Fung Sing soap, and the resulting 3 passes and touch up on jawline were nice and smooth. Am still focusing on really riding the cap, and being very cognizant of sound with this razor. A little less irritation again on my neck, but can still detect a little stubble when I rub ATG on my neck. I would call it a DFS again. Have shown minor improvements each day in level of neck redness, but will look to get a closer shave on my neck with this beautiful old razor.
Finished off with this fantastic mentholated Stirling balm.I will go 3 and out with this blade, and switch to an Astra SP for tomorrow morning's shave.
    Have a great evening all!

I don’t usually comment on the photos, but that's a beautiful springtime shot, Doug! And that Fatboy of yours looks practically mint. Is it or did you have it replated somewhere?
