Beautiful razor and that is my favorite brush or yours. Ummm, are you using the Dovo or the solingen in the photo?

OK, Chicago was bearable in the 50s yesterday, it wasn't raining that hard, and a Walgreens was a block away from the hotel. Accordingly, I picked up some of Walgreens DE blades, stuck them in my Gillette travel razor, and used my crappy Fanto (free with purchase) brush to hand lather. Admittedly, not my best shave stuff, but was still disappointed with a less than stellar shave this morning. I'm ready to get back home to the better equipment. Considering just doing my first cartridge shave in about six weeks just to remind myself that a disappointing DE shave is probably still better than when I used to get, but will probably think better of it and go for a "do over" tomorrow.
April 5 After yesterday's lather failure I went with a sure win, AoS tallow and AoS cream super lather. Wet slick lather flying all over the counter. Used my Chubby 2 to make sure I could do 4 passes and shave the dog... then I remembered I don't have a dog. Today's razor is my 6/8 Koraat half hollow a couples shaves in on Shapton glass 16k edge. The shave went well with no issues, what a difference the lather can make. Irritation A+ Closeness A- Smoothness A- Sharpness A-
