I am thinking this one razor a week thing is going to be difficult for me right now. Part of what I am doing is working on honing and refreshing etc... Well the only way you can really know if you got a razor where you want it is to shave with it. It doesn't really work to wait a week to see it you pulled it off, or if you didn't, if you don't have time to re work it, you need to grab another one.

I am calling this focus "Off the Rails", and am amending it to simply using and maintaining straights. So considering that I consider myself a straight shaver now anyway, I guess it is a non-focusing focus.

Thanks. It is an older Crabtree and Evelyn bowl that I use for samples. I'd like to say I made it to match the brush, but I can't!

Thanks Charlie. Had to get my biannual cold out of the way before the nice weather sets in! :)

A very nice shave was had last night compliments of the 34C/Feather combo, all except for one weeper. For some reason I always get a weeper when using a Feather blade. I felt no pain during the shave, just noticed a tiny spot of red on my neck afterward. The funny thing is, I only shave WTG on my neck, and I haven't had a spot of blood in over 10 months(probably since the last time I used a Feather LOL). Have a great day my friends!

Since the hairs on my neck grow in about 3 different directions, I always expect to get at least one weeper. That's how it was a year ago this month when I started this journey. But since I've gotten in some solid reps with all my razors/blades, no blood. Also doing a half pass(neck only) XTG helps a lot

    It's official, I'm a straight shaver
After 3.5 hours sleep, I had thirty minutes to get ready this morning. I showered and did a two pass DFS in that time, without blood!
Caught a cab back to the airport, dealt with a brainless counter person and finally have my rental car. I'm enjoying a nice Mexican breakfast in Norfolk right now.
I have a couple of hours to kill, off to find antiques stores

    Simpson Chubby 2 Super
    Soap Commander Love

I enjoyed a nice two-pass shave this morning. The Soap Commander was a welcome change in my set up. I shave with the cart as I would with a DE, and the results for me are similar. Using the heavy Trac II handle (I assume it is chrome-plated solid brass), I don't find the need to use any additional pressure. That may change when I use one of the lightweight Gillette 7 O'Clock PII handles from India.

Given my light beard and what I consider to be a decent technique, it's almost impossible to get nicked or irritated using this razor. I'll see how many comfortable shaves I can get from this cartridge (for science) and then change over to either my Super Speed or my Weber DE.

It may seem weird that I'm exploring what it's like to shave with a cart, but I haven't used one for more than 30 years. With the exception of the last 4-5 years, most of my shaves have been with electric razors.

I hope you all have a fantastic day.
