  1. Its a good thing you already have a CT.
  2. Sometimes you stick your foot in it deep to earn a CT. It can also happen with what you might think is a simple casual remark. Mine's a constant reminder to think before posting. The Good News is they can be changed :happy088:
  3. April 5 (Wednesday ) - creams and non Gillette DE foci

    Fatip Grande / Voskhod ( 5)
    Alluminati Envy White brush
    Florena shave cream
Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Aftershave

Today's cream was Florena, a German cream sold in the traditional old metal toothpaste tube. It claims to contain chamomile and a vitamin E complex for that good skin care. An inch long squeeze in the lather bowl with a palmful of water was whipped by a damp soaked badger brush into a very nice lather. I finished by face lathering, which is always a pleasure with the Envy White. The lather spread in a good slick layer with enough in the brush still for a followup ATG pass and two or three extras. The Florena cream has a mild bitter herbal scent - basically it smells like chamomile. It provided good protection and leaves a soft skin feel with no sense of drying. On the other hand, it doesn't give that spa-type luxury experience of scent and feeling you get from a cream like Castle Forbes - but then Castle Forbes is about ten times the price too.

Basically, Florena is a good solid workmanlike shave cream, especially considering it was a drugstore cream at a drugstore price. If I needed a shave cream, I wouldn't hesitate to grab it again.

My shave with the Fatip Grande was excellent. Of the five OC razors I have used these past few days, the Fatip is the one I like the best. It's just a solid, well-made razor that is aggressive without any snarkiness so it delivers a cleanly efficient shave without any quirks. My usual diagonal passes followed by a complete ATG pass left me very near a BBS with no nicks, cuts, weepers or irritation.

Mr. Alum kept his mouth shut today, although the high alcohol Thayers WH aftershave provided a pleasant mild burn.

All in all, one of my better shaves and a nice start to a sunny day. Hope everybody has a great Wednesday!
  4. Sometimes, carts work really well, especially in travel situations. Sounds like it's been a great experience for you so far, Charlie. :happy088:
  5. Thanks Jim. It has been a pleasant surprise. I hope you are having a nice day, my friend.
  6. Brian @mrchick of The Traveling Den has issued a challenge. Then he went to the next level and supplied the instruments of the proposition. Thank you, Sir!

  7. Pickings were slim. Got three items. Talked them down to $10 on the Black Beauty. Down from $50 to $30 cash for the Joseph Allen straight. And got the big mystery stone for $20. Now to figure out what the stone is.

  8. Thanks, Jared. I was recently thinking of picking up a black handled Superspeed for sentimental reasons as I remember my Grandfather using one. I'll gladly take that one off your hands.
  9. DANG! Those gold black beauties are rare, and thats a big honkin stone! I hope it's something special! Nice straight too :)

  13. Thanks. I couldn't pass it up for the price. I'll bum an extra toothbrush from the front desk tonight and do some hotel room restoration
  14. Very Nice Doug!

  17. Mediocre shave#2 on day #2 with the travel razor & Walgreens blade. You know the definition of insanity... Tomorrow's focus will be to not use that gear again even if it requires a cart shave tomorrow. Focus when getting back home will be to indentify if the blade or the travel razor was responsible for upsetting my shave zen. Once the detour is over, we'll get back to focusing on new creams & soaps with the tride and true superspeed & astra SP setup.

  19. Great job capturing the grain on the brush. I the Amgios Ironwood with Arko is just a lather explosion.
  20. Thanks very much Clint. I haven't found a soap that this Envy knot can't work into a great lather. The Amigos Ironwood handle is a joy to use.
