Me too. I just slightly wet the stick and then apply it to face and neck and then face lather. I find it more comfortable to use the long end of the stick like a bar of soap rather than the little end.
I asked this in the 30-day thread but may need to ask here as well. Anyone got an extra stick of Arko they'd like to donate to the cause? It's not for me. I'm trying to help enable another denizen.
Face application is the manufacturer intent. To bowl lather, slice off a coin or two, and stick it to the bottom of a bowl to load or lather.
This thread prompted me to pull out my Arko. This is the first time I've used this brush with Arko. Wow! What a nice comfortable lather.
Face lather all the way. It does not take a lot on the ole face either. I start with a fairly dry brush and just dip the tips of the brush in water if I need more. I think you will love the feeling of the lather building. I used Arko today and face lathered the way GAWD intended.
That's a really happy pic. Reminds me to switch from Vitalis to Clubman on the Tonic. I use Vitalis, Jeris, Osage, Veg and Clubman Tonic as my hair/scalp products. Really scalp, I clip it with a 1/2 guard at 1/16 weekly, and Schick injector the nape of my neck.
Ok Gentlemen: Just shaved using Arko for the first time - WOW! I have never used a stick of soap before. As I applied the soap to my wet face - it just didn't seem like enough soap was going on. Then I hit it with my SOC Boar (which I soaked just for a few seconds) - it was magic. I had so much soap I could have shaved a couple more times. I felt bad washing it down the sink. The scent was nothing to write home about - it smells like soap to me. But I just had an excellent shave. The rest of the set up was my Merkur 34c with a new Ladas blade, Nivea balm and Cella after shave. I show a Captain's Choice bowl in the photo but I did not use it. Glad I tried Arko - will have to keep it out as part of the regular rotation.
Colonel! That is excellent. The smell to me is much like Ivory bath soap. Glad you enjoyed it. It is like Magic!
I get much better results by by smooshing it into a ceramic container then bowl lathering as usual. Horses for courses tho. Have fun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
They also make it in Peru, I think this is the version for voodoo ceremonies. It is a little sweeter and yellow in color.
It's what heroes wear on lazy Saturdays. I always had God with a white beard, but he wrote on a stone tablet somewhere that Veg, Arko, Willams, AV, and Barbasol are gifts from heaven.
Every time someone mentions 'Veg', I have Steve Goodman's "Vegematic" song run through my head (look it up on youtube. It's worth it)
