I usually don't mention prep, but this morning was typical: a quick warm water face wash with some liquid facial soap. All right, it is my Bride's Clinique face wash, but don't tell anybody.
I performed a mostly ATG two-pass plus touch-up shave. I'm near BBS, except for my normal trouble spots along the jawline and lower neck. I could work these areas a little more for BBS, but that just invites irritation. Speaking of minor differences between blades, the Voskhod is super smooth, so I can pull off an all-ATG shave with this blade. With my Feather blades, however, I'd probably experience a few weepers doing so. There's been some discussion lately about whether ATG shaving causes ingrown hairs. In my experience (I have a light beard and moderately oily skin), I don't think I've ever had an ingrown since I started wet shaving more than four years ago.
The CF shave cream is fantastic. I applied several almond-sized dollops (more than I probably needed) to my face and went into a face lather. (Yep, I'm comfortable enough in my manhood to use Clinique products and words like
dollop.) My Kent brush whipped up a mountain of cream, and the scent filled the bathroom. Good stuff, for sure.
After the party was over, the alum was relatively quiet. I'm quite pleased with this shave.
Happy Monday!
