Have fun with that straight. Are we giving odds on how long before you have joined the darkside and actually shaved with that?

 

Another gorgeous brush. Between you, Doug and Andrew, you have me looking for new brushes.

So tonight's daily shave.... was pretty good.

For the new soap I selected a somewhat local (but known) soap from Sudsy Soapery, the Almond and Vanilla. To start off with I'll say it had a nice strong scent. From the moment I took the lid off to when I started lathering it up.

As for lather, I soaked the synthetic brush and went to work, before transferring to the mug. I think I had a bit too much water, but it didn't perform any kind of disappearing act on me.

One ATG pass, then a half pass on the neck and jawline, followed by some Witch Hazel touchup. I am definitely a fan of witch hazel for touch ups. Just feels soooo good. I haven't used any other aftershave products, and my skin feels nice. Plus the alum doesn't scream that much.

Final grade... solid B.

 

April 24 (Monday) - last of the creams

I ended my tests of shave creams where I began, with the very first cream I ever owned, except a fresh tub instead of the tail end of a decade-old tub dried to a croap. Fresh is definitely better. For one thing, the shave cream has an actual scent -- a pleasant fresh vegetable smell.

Just an all-round good shave tonight: mounds of lather whipped up with no effort, a near BBS shave with no irritation, and the Thayers aftershave variant of the witch hazel to finish it all off.

Tomorrow, I start trying my inventory of soaps, beginning of course with A is for Arko.

Those archives should probably be locked to all but the most experienced and calloused readers. There's some stuff in there that would cause half of the newbies to run screaming!

 

I'm assuming the soaps are for shaving and not clean up? Or perhaps both? Oh, and speaking of MAYhem......I have a guest in my den.

This is what I love about this thread. Shenanigans flying everywhere, friendly insults being shouted, discussions about MAYhem past and present and....right in the middle of it, the Marine classes the joint right back up with that picture. WOW! That is just an awesome photo of some awesome gear.

Boy she has your number doesn't she. Time for a diversion. You can tell her the Czar ordered the finger-blade idea....I'll take the heat for this one. Mine has given up on ever having a sane conversation about shaving with me.

 

For an extra safety feature you can always keep Osage Rub on the sink and splash it generously below the waist when you cut yourself with the razor. You won't mind the cut anymore.

 

Nothing. Ignore the idiots behind the curtain with the dangerous and/or questionable shaving items. All smoke and mirrors. Trust me.

Blood doesn't bother me unless it's mine or someone close to me. I was able to work on folks with some fairly serious bleeders with no problem.
