Day 19 of the Canadian Old Type focus, day one back with a Sharp Star. The TFS made a nice lather this morning. FWIW, I've found that it will start to break down by the 3rd pass if you start out making it a little runny. Nice slick lather, though. Excellent 3+ pass DFS this morning. The Old Type won't be my daily driver after this focus is over, but if it had to be, I could live with that.
Love this aftershave, not sure if this or the Reserve Spice is my current fave.
    Have a great day all!

Day 30 of 30 days of Henckel straights

I added some TOBS Rose today for a very pleasantly scented shave.

I used the 7/8 Square Toe Henckel for my final shave in the 30 days of Henckels. This was another very good shave.

    DIY Pre-Shave Oil
ABC with TOBS Rose Face Lathered
    2+ pass, WTG, XTG
24MM silvertip set an extra 10mm deep
    Sampsons All Natural Aftershave Balm
    Square Toe 7/8 Henckel 17

Very Nice, Mark! I LOVE green brushes!
Like any good marriage she knows you too well!
I use the "tilt" or guillotine stroke with pretty much every razor I own except my slants which have it built in.

    April 25 - Route 66 Rum Runner
    Merkur 34C
    Personna Blue (Day 2)
    Dark Chocolate brush (JR#148)
    DIY PSO
    Rt 66Rum Runner
    Alum/Thayers/Nivea

Since it was stated I tend to be a little long winded, I will keep this brief.

Used Rt66. Rum Runner - lots of soap - like nearly double Stirling

Scent: Excellent scent. Vendor state: Bright White Citrus and Ginger top notes over Sweet Hay, Sandalwood and Cinnamon. Anchored with Sugar Cane Rum and Birch Wood. I can smell rum, wood, and sandalwood mostly. Not sure I smelled citrus, ginger or know what hay smells like. In the end, love the warm inviting scent. So far, Rt66 wins my favor in terms of scents.

    Lather:
Started with a dry soap. Wet and wrung out Dark Chocolate brush (JR#148 synth). Damp but nothing left to drip. added 4 drops of water to start whipping. Total of about 10 drops water and made a thicker lather, slick but still less volume than what Stirling does. Was enough for 4-5 passes. VERY little water is needed. Shiny and very slick but less cushion. Even with very little. Soap has a nice medium firmness maybe the same or slightly less than Stirling but melts away far faster than any soap I have tried. This could cause more to load on a brush or need less time to load. Should be easy to load even with a soft brush.

    Shave:
3.5 passes BBS using 34C and Personna Blue (Day 2). Personna felt good but might be showing a little wear. Alum bit a bit but dulled quickly.

Pro: Shiny and very slick soap leaves skin nicely moisturized. Lather was creamy. Scent was nicely strong. Great moisturized feel after shaving
Con: Less cushion than Stirling, less thick. Needed 1.5 -2X the amount of soap used from Stirling.

Wrap Up: If you are looking for a very slick soap, this is excellent. Excellent post shave feel. I still feel the lack of cushion is my technique. I like a very dense lather. I am too use to soaps that like lots of water. I wonder if needing more water also widens the range of water that makes a good lather from a soap.

I've got the Rum Runner also. Love the scent and the slickness. I beat that container like a drum with the 10098. It loads nice and I could probably get four passes if I was so inclined.

Frank I would come back to the Route 66 later. I am not sure what's happening that causes you to have issues. Time and practice cures most issues. Like @RetLEO-07 , Route 66 is just fool proof for me and most people that try it.
