Tabac. I love the scent, a puck of it lasts forever and its pretty cheap.

Yeah, Ghost Town Barber is really popular from what I see. If you try a CF soap or AS, hope you like it.

Actually, I did try Sherlock and Midnight Stag aftershaves, but during the summer. Wrong time.

Yes, I won the Dr. Jon's 1803 set (soap and Aftershave).
Dr. Jon's best items are the classic, 1803, and krampus (which is a Christmas seasonal). Make sure to get their "volume 2" soaps since they are improved over the original (though, the original is still very good in its own right)

Funny you say that, the Vol.1 1803 four oz. tin is on sale on a shaving site for $10, and I see the Vol.2 series is $16 on Dr. Jon's site!

I did some research and most people agree the Vol.2's are better because the soap is harder, the lid is screw on, and the tin does not rust over time like Vol.1

I'm not sure if price is a concern (of course...For 6 bucks...I hope it's not THAT big of a worry), but the vol 2 us worth it. Heck, at 10 bucks a pop, the vol 1 is better than 98% of stuff on the market...seriously.

i have using the j m frasers lately and been really happy with it .it makes tons of lather, very slick.the scent is a little industrial but as a mechanic i am used to that. i have a fair number of other soaps/creams that i use and like; some have better scents etc. alot are mood related.on a bla day frasers is easy,no thought required.

I have not used a bad soap, all work well during the shave. For me its the post shave feel that really makes a soap stand out.

My two favorites are Stirling and Route 66.

    Also in my rotation:

    RazoRock
    Tabac
    Blades Grim
    Sir hare
    Arko
    Dr Jon
    La Toja

I bought a Klar Seifen Sandalwood soap to evaluate and it will be tested at some point.

I have Mendel scented Klar. If you like the almond of Cella, it's a bite of a cookie. Klar is a cake smashed in your face.

For an inexpensive shave with plenty of lather Arko is tops of my list.
Try a stick, if you don't like it you aren't out much. Some folks are irritated by the ingredients. Especially the unimaginative lemon scent. That can be "fixed" by grating, allowing it to de-scent, and adding your favorite aftershave or cologne.

Connoisseur Grade Soap, Sir! I was fortunate to purchase 3/4's of a stick of 1960's production Williams. It rivals or beats any other lather I've sampled.
Had I been a Fresh Newbie in that antique/thrift store I wouldn't have looked at it twice. I'll miss it when it's gone. Someone could make a business of correctly reproducing this stuff.
