May 3 - Stirling Blizzard blew threw today and boy was it cold!!!

    Merkur 34C
    Gillette Platinum(Day 3)
    The Phoenix brush
    DIY PSO
    Glacial Eskimo Tuxedo
    Alum/Thayers/Nivea

With my order of Stirling soaps and goodies delivered, I was anxious to try out the new soaps. I will be trying soaps new to me for the next 15 or 16 days. Can't ask for a better task!

I allowed my daughter to select the soap and she chose Glacial Eskimo Tuxedo (GET). Last night, we couldn't wait for the need to shave and grabbed a bit in our hands and worked up a lather with it. She just loved the feeling of the slick soap and the wonderful minty menthol scent. I was expecting cold feeling hands but either we grabbed too little or the effect of menthol is lost on ones hands. I have never tried a menthol bath soap so I have no basis of expectation here. In all, it smelled great and left the hands feel smooth and well hydrated.

My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the soap experience and we made a pack that any left over shaving lather, she would get to enjoy. GET as all Stirling soaps lathered up great. I used a damp brush well rung out and loaded it until it was covered in paste. Lots of water later, nice shiny and perfect lather. I understand why some have commented that the Sharp Dressed Man scent is mild or overpowered by menthol. Menthol is a beautifully strong smell. Only when I finally got it well watered and gave the menthol a chance to subside did I once notice the SDM scent. It was brief. As for feel, it felt freezing cold like a Minnesota winter!! I just loved it.

3.5 passes yielded a DFS+. The Gillette Platinum seemed to be showing wear from my point of view. It wasn't clearing the hair as well as before. It was still smooth but it reminded me of a lawnmower trying to cut tall wet grass. this will be its last shave and the Gillette Rubie will be going in next.

Face was nice and smooth with some spots close but not completely mowed. Skin was nicely moisturized and for a good hour after felt cold to cool. Very refreshing.

I am glad I purchased a tub of GET.

Is no one going to talk about the Haunted Razor that has been introduced to Mayhem? I originally wanted to buy this, to see if it was true. My wife flat out said no. Apparently there are limits to the amount of foolishness she will put up with. The seller had a bunch of other haunted items in their store, and actually had good reviews. I was very intrigued. I am glad Matthew has a good home now.

I have both a family history and personal experience with ghosts or "psychic phenomena".

I have collected arms and armour since I bought my first bayonet at age 12, with a particular interest in military or using weapons as opposed to fancy ceremonial ones. One risk of such a collection is that such items have often been carried and used in circumstances of extreme violence and as a result may acquire "passengers". In the course of the last 40 years, I have personally encountered one suit of armour and two swords that were in fact "inhabited". The armour did not, unfortunately, belong to me (it was a really nice suit of 15th century German plate) and the ghost inhabiting it, Bruno, was a very pleasant individual. The two swords, on the other hand, did belong to my brother and me, and the individuals attached to them were very unpleasant indeed. Essentially, they required exorcism.

A razor can be both a very personal object and a deeply treasured belonging to its owner, and as a result I personally have no doubt whatsoever that one could be haunted. Moreover the description of the haunting sounds quite believable in the form that it took.

Shh....we must not speak of the "Razor-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named!"

Sorry I'm a little late to the party. For this month I'm going to focus on some new razors I have just got. A couple of Schick repeaters I have recently gotten (sorry I haven't got pics yet MrChick), and a Rolls razor if I can get the blade honed in time. Also throwing in various other SE razors and maybe a SR or two.

Early shave as the weather has been cold and no golfing for a few days. This is a great shave brush and my Red Tip is still a favorite.

That river is trying to play like it's in Missouri right now! Right now here, though, the brush and razor would be floating off in the flood!

Thank you Clint. I like this brush very much. I like the feel of the handle, and the knot. I also really enjoy the design. I like the handle, I like the knot, I like the design. I guess that just about covers a good brush. Do you feel the same way about your Rowl?

Water level is high here also. I live on high ground and the river in the picture is well above it's bank. We are supposed to get a heavy downpour on Friday which might be the final straw. Good luck Neal and stay dry.:eatdrink047:
