  4. Today's shave was with a $10 "Rescue Razor" that looked hopeless. It had a very bad chip, on the toe, that had to be ground to make it usable. It now is a smiling blade, somewhat.
I had a great 2 pass shave, that couldn't have gone smoother. The Surgical Black Arkansas stone made the edge Buttery Smooth. BBS result, without any issues. No Sting at all, from the aftershave.
It's a little rough looking, but It will shave circles around some of the prettier ones.

  5. Very nice looking "Rescue Razor."
  6. Sweet! Exactly as I predicted! Don't you love a surprise razor for under $15 and a little bit of elbow grease?!
  7. Much more satisfying to resurrect and get a great shave, from a "Rescue Razor", than buying one that looks new, that shaves well.
  8. As long as you don't cut yourself in the restoration.
  9. Rarely does that happen. But, it has happened before. Just a part of the game. Most of the time I dull the edge, before I sand and buff an old razor.
  10. Very good idea.
  11. You know, as handy as you are, with tools, I'm very surprised you haven't tried your hand at restoring an old blade yet.
  12. Me too
  13. I think I've sold off most of my framebacks. To me, the FBs have a slightly different 'face feel' than standard hollow ground blades. Excellent shavers, by the way, just unique.
Some Wostenholm FBs that delivered some too-shelf shaves...

    Strop: Drygulch 45
Brush Handle: B-400 The Brush by Tom
    Knot: APShaveCo Tuxedo
    Soap: L&L Grooming Marshland
    Post Care: Thayers Witch Hazel
    Alum
    Osage Rub
    Aftershave: Fine Green Vetiver

Wonderful Sunday morning shave today. I can't say enough good things about this soap, I love everything about it. The Fine AS compliments the soap; it's a brighter and fresher Vetiver scent and blends great with the marshy L&L. One pass with the Supply and one with the Chimera and I'm happy with the results. Have a great day folks!
