Today's shave was with a $10 "Rescue Razor" that looked hopeless. It had a very bad chip, on the toe, that had to be ground to make it usable. It now is a smiling blade, somewhat. I had a great 2 pass shave, that couldn't have gone smoother. The Surgical Black Arkansas stone made the edge Buttery Smooth. BBS result, without any issues. No Sting at all, from the aftershave. It's a little rough looking, but It will shave circles around some of the prettier ones. Razor- C.F.Wolfertz. 13/16th inch. "Allentown" 1862-1873 Brush- B 400, By Tom. Boar Hair knot by Whipped Dog Soap- Stirling Ozark Mountain Aftershave- Florida Water
Sweet! Exactly as I predicted! Don't you love a surprise razor for under $15 and a little bit of elbow grease?!
Much more satisfying to resurrect and get a great shave, from a "Rescue Razor", than buying one that looks new, that shaves well.
Rarely does that happen. But, it has happened before. Just a part of the game. Most of the time I dull the edge, before I sand and buff an old razor.
You know, as handy as you are, with tools, I'm very surprised you haven't tried your hand at restoring an old blade yet.
I think I've sold off most of my framebacks. To me, the FBs have a slightly different 'face feel' than standard hollow ground blades. Excellent shavers, by the way, just unique. Some Wostenholm FBs that delivered some too-shelf shaves...

I used my Genco "Red Cross" razor this morning and had a very satisfying 2 pass shave that left me BBS!
Great Sunday morning three pass shave. Tabac soap, deodorant, as, and edc. Can you tell I'm a Tabac junkie?
Razor: Portland Razor Co Chimera / Supply Provision Custom 3 dot head Blade: Chick Strop: Drygulch 45 Brush Handle: B-400 The Brush by Tom Knot: APShaveCo Tuxedo Soap: L&L Grooming Marshland Post Care: Thayers Witch Hazel Alum Osage Rub Aftershave: Fine Green Vetiver Wonderful Sunday morning shave today. I can't say enough good things about this soap, I love everything about it. The Fine AS compliments the soap; it's a brighter and fresher Vetiver scent and blends great with the marshy L&L. One pass with the Supply and one with the Chimera and I'm happy with the results. Have a great day folks!
