Off Focus again today. Loved another easy, reliable shave with the Flare Tip this morning. Realized I could have used this combo for Menthol Monday with the Proraso and the Cool. 3 passes to near BBS again.
Will go back to an Injector for my weekend shave tomorrow morning, and am going to try to implement some of the great advice from folks on skin stretching, short/buffing strokes and focussing on angles.
    Have a great day all!
  5. Very nice photo Perry. It does sound like you have a busy day and weekend ahead of you. Have fun.
  6. Beautiful lineup Mark. The knot on the Varlet looks huge!!
  7. Me too! :bounce015:
  8. The good news about sharing your shave stuff with them - those supplies become household expenses rather than your hobby stuff.

When enough folks rave about a product, it sticks in my mind. The Health Food store where I found KMF carries Dr. Bronner products, Thayers WH in several scents, and other stuff I recognized from SOTD photos.
  9. Evil genius award nomination @RyX (Also, let me know on the whole travel award thing, as it is still in limbo.)
  10. Hope you were awake enough to take the cover off the Old
  11. Massive prize possibilities added, nominees announced and new categories posted. Check the list, you may be on it!

Also - Swapapalooza has begun at the Academy:
Since the Academy just added a BUNCH of potential prizes to choose from, but will not be adding large numbers of nominations to match the number of prizes, a swapapalooza element has been added to the awards prize cache. Here's the idea: Some of you may have some razors, soaps, etc. that are really great stuff, but aren't up your alley, and you've been on the fence about what to do with them. If you want, shoot me a PM and ask about trading out for one or more items in the prize box of similar value. (For example, you may have a nice B&M soap you want to trade out for a couple less expensive soaps, samples, or other prizes you might like better). If we are lucky, it may result in both your collection, my collection, and/or the prize box getting better. NOTE: Don't be offended if I say no, as keeping and/or increasing the value the prize box is my ultimate goal here. I've already has my first inbound PM on this (some may be Academy "surprises" later on), so feel free to let the bartering frenzy sweep you down the river like one of @Douglas Carey 's soap cookies!

(This should be obvious, but ONLY awards the Academy's list of prizes are eligible for barter, not those generously offered up by individual 30 DC members).

  12. Thayers is good stuff too.

    Rolls Razor / Ever-Ready 1912
    Simpson's Ch2 Synthetic
    La Toja
    Florida Water

I'm home for today and for the next two weeks hanging with my son because my wife has to go back to work and our day care doesn't start until May 30th. This allows me more time for some shenanigans. Today I tried ought my Rolls Razor, I honed the blade for SEptember last year but never had a chance to give it a go. I guess it needs more honing, it did shave but was very tuggy. I did two passes WTG and XTG and finished up my last pass with my Ever-Ready 1912 loaded with a GEM stainless. Splashed on a bit of Florida Water, and felt the burn! No blood, but I did have a bit of irritation. Have a great day everyone!

  14. It felt smooth enough that I could almost believe I had left the cover on. ;)
  15. Wonderful picture Andrew. It's very cool that you are getting to spend this time with your son. After a short maternity leave with our firstborn, my wife went back to work traveling about 2 -3 days each week for almost 3 years. To this day, my daughter and I exceptionally close. She reminds me that she taught me how to be a dad. ;)
