Glad to join this fine group of gents with my recently acquired Asylum RX. It arrived last week after two months on the customs. I also have a Razorock Silverhawk that I love. And a GEM Push Button and an Ever-Ready 1912 in transit arriving next week to their new home! 15.05.2017 Myrsol Emulsion Maggards Synthetic 24 mm Crema Mondial alla Mandorla Asylum RX Kai Captain Titan Mild Thayers Rose Petal Floïd Vigoroso My fourth shave with the Asylum Rx and I am starting to get more confident with my technique... The first two shaves were a bit rough.
May 16th, Jamie's Night Shave... A great injector shave. Cant go wrong with a Schick type E with a Personna 74 (4th shave)
So I've been using the SP Injector for four shaves now. I added the 3-dot plate, because I wanted to go balls to the wall in aggressiveness. It is beautifully crafted, feels great in the hand and I want to like it but.... meh. It sure isn't a Schick E3 from Canada. It makes me sad, because I want to jump on the Kickstarter for the Jet Black version with minor improvements. And maybe I will. I'm not giving up, but I'm not excited about this razor.
Those E2s were designed just before WWII....I think the idea was....the US soldiers knew how to shave with them and they were like a str8 on a stick, capable of effortless two pass BBS's everytime....But if the shaving kit fell into enemy hands...Well, I'm wondering how many Axis soldiers died from terminal weepers or self assult with an armed shaving weapon... The early E2s that open to clean, are one of the best ever razors and the ones I've had were the most aggressive razors in my den... Here's Cary Grant cutting himself with an E2 right here:
I understand. I like the SP as a finely crafted razor, but I'm struggling a bit beyond that first pass (which is terrific). I'm sure the problem is me. I'm so used to having lots of feedback from 7 years of using a Futur and a Variant, getting used to a relatively quiet razor takes some time. The Schick I1 worked much better for me, mostly, I think, because there's lots of audible feedback. You know when you've got the angle right in those tough spots because you can hear it. Plus I'm new to SE's.
Tom, I am in UK and have some unopened ones in a packet, and am not good at honing. Can send you a Packet if you PM me your Address. I have had the pleasure of being a participant of the UK Bunny pass around. Regards- Mike
