I think the worst of it is over. At least I hope so. Wade and I are planning a motorcycle trip to the NC mountains for the upcoming holiday weekend.
Fourth shave in! New blade, I think I did my lather too thick first run and nicked my upper lip. Had to use the alum block to stop it. I might not like the first shave with a new blade.
19 May 2017 TGIF Blade/Soap Focus Shave Pre: Hot water, some left over soap, hot towel Razor: Gillette 1952 Super Speed Black Tip Blade: Shark Super Chrome Brush: JR#161 NY Mets Special Edition Soap: The Cella, Crema Da Barba Post: Hot/Cold rinse, alum block, cold towelx2 After Shave: Cella Lozione Dopobarba Final shave of the week. Today it was off to Italy. Using JR#161 a great, slick, fragrant lather was produced. Ahh, Cella! For it's final go round, the Black Tip/Shark duo continued to deliver shaving excellence. 2.5 passes, no clean up and a near BBS. Then it was off to the blade bank. Up next on Sunday, the pride of the Rodina, Voskhod. If the Voskie delivers, I'm a winner either way. Splashed on some Cella A/S and smelling like a proper Italian gent, it was off to work. May 19 Schick G w Vintage PAL (1) Soap Commander Endurance WD HM Badger Thayers Unscented Barrister's Reserve Spice Thanks to @Screwtape, I now have some new Injector toys to play with. Loaded a PAL into a G and put it to my face fully expecting a similar feel to what i've experienced these other 6 days with a Chick so far. Glided down my face incredibly smoothly. A nice combination of the usual Soap Commander lather with this obviously non-dull blade. Using the techniques I've been working on with Injectors, the result after 3 passes is near BBS. I'm not usually one to blame tools, but after 3 blades in 2 different razors, I believe I've been working with a substandard cartridge of Chicks. The difference was night and day. Balance has been returned to the force. Have a great day all!
I am so glad you were able to figure out you had a bad injector of Chick blades. Just goes to show that your technique was solid and you could isolate the problem .
Not a family member, but I found this razor and wanted to buy it. Ran it by my wife, who is more sensitive to spirits and hauntings than I am. She was not on board with me purchasing it, in case the seller was correct in it being haunted. So I did what I always do with a ridiculous shave related item I can't have; I dared Neal to buy it. This way I could hide and watch what happens. Glad to hear its a friendly spirit.
@clint64, glad to hear you are feeling better. Wind therapy sounds like just the thing. Congrats on 10,000 posts. That's a lot of time invested in the forum.
I know how you feel Perry, but I do enjoy your setting your pics! Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
I LOVE those injectors with the different color handles. The navy handle with the silver razor head is particularly striking. Good stuff!
Well, as you fellas know, I am one who shaves by the weather. That being said, it's supposed to cool down quite a bit the next few days compared to the 80's and 90's of Wednesday, yesterday and today. I'm gambling that I won't set fire to my face and neck, as I will be bringing out some winter shave paraphernalia. You'll see what I'm talkinabout in the SOTD thread.
