May 20, 2017 Gem Featherweight Gem PTFE Coated Shavemac D01 3 Band Mystic Water Raspberry Lemon Folsom & Co Capri Up for weekend duty is the Gem Featherweight. This razor was part of a package deal with the Damaskeene OC. When the razors arrived I was pleasantly surprised to find that the FW was in near mint condition. For those familiar with Injector razors and looking to try a Gem razor I would recommend the Featherweight since it feels like a Gem version of an injector razor. I quickly worked up a nice slick lather and started the shave. I went with a traditional 3 pass shave and with some touch ups ended up with my normal near BBS shave. The little Featherweight was very smooth but not quite as efficient as either Damaskeene or the 1912. A splash of F&C Shambala and I am ready to visit my mom for the day. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.
The FW is a great razor. I agree with you that the 1912 is a more efficient razor. To me they feel more aggressive but are just as easy to drive.
It would be an easy deal to whip up a "30 Day Crew", hold my beer coozie on Zazzle or some such. Let's see, too uncool to ask Jason; think he's busy with some other stuff for us. Let's see.... @BaylorGator ~ You seem to have a sense of humor, how about you make one? I will be the first order.
You know I have a day job, right? OK, OK. I'll see what I can do. The artist with my company's creative agency is a buddy of mine, who is also an avid wet shaver. Maybe I'll see if he can come up with a good 30 DC logo.
SOTD May 20, 2017 Blade: Vintage Personna Twinjector Razor: Schick L1 injector Brush: Jayaruh #142 black badger Lather: Country Club Cahaba Blues Post: Witch hazel, Country Club Sweet Water aftershave WTG, touch-up Thank you to @Screwtape for the PIF of these blades! Very nice, smooth, and enjoyable shave this morning. Terrific lather from Cahaba Blues soap with Jayaruh #142 brush. A slow, deliberate pass followed by touch-ups on the neck and jaw areas like normal. Smooth results. Really enjoyable. The blades felt smooth and sharp and efficient. I'll enjoy trying them in various injectors I have. Have a great Saturday!
Yeah, the design of the label is terrific. The soap is terrific as well. The owner is based here in Birmingham, Alabama. @Tim Spencer has used him (Kevin is his name) to make several custom scents. Top-notch soap!
