    I have been playing around a little bit trying to come up with the right finishing setup, and I have really hit on a winner now. I went from a Shapton 12K to the Black Arkansas. I spent just enough time on the Arkansas that the razor was really starting to feel like it was drawing down, almost like a strop, then quit. I didn't use any pastes or sprays afterwards, just stropped it well on leather, and boy what an edge did I get on it. It was so smooth that I was worried it wasn't all that sharp, but the ATG passes left baby bottom behind. I mixed a whopper of a bowl of Soap Commander and spent quite a little time touching up troubles spots, drinking coffee; just a great shave all the way around.

    I definitely got a smoother edge than when I was ending with film. I'm not sure it was any sharper, but it was at least as sharp. What I couldn't believe was how smooth it was. I am pretty pleased. Okay no, I am really pleased. I am even going to give myself a couple of unicorns.
