Surprisingly there were more votes for the big Filly than hurting myself for this shave. This new to me razor is a classic Filarmonica from Spain, made between 1915 and 1967. I don’t think these are the original scales, but the gold wash on the blade is good. I checked the edge, and hit it with a pasted strop, and away we went. This is my first use of Dirty Deeds soap since I really got into the hobby of wet shaving in 2014. Prior to that, I used this soap in place of canned goo for over a year. I remember it being good stuff, so I bought a bunch for others on the 30DC. Now I am a little nervous, because the soaps we regularly use are so good. Does this actually hold up, or am I remembering it only in comparison to goo? I took a small puck of the milled soap and grated it into a small container. I did a test lather yesterday, and I didn’t quite get the water dialed in, but I will give it another try today. All of the Dirty Deeds soaps have a strong soap smell, and this one smells like a floral scented and very clean soap.

The lather was a little tricky to get hydrated correctly. I started with a dry paste, and kept adding water in the bowl. When I had a good looking lather, I put it on my face, and it looked dry again, so I added more water to the brush. Lather did not feel quite a slick as I am used to, but the razor was amazing. Super loud extra hollow 1 inch plus blade. She sang as the whiskers were removed. WTG pass gave a good reduction. Lather in the bowl looks dry again, so I added more water and lathered up for a second pass. Went ATG on this one, and got most of the whiskers removed. Lather was protective, but not super slick. Enough to get the job done. Last pass, XTG went great. Added more water to the lather to make it almost runny. Not as protective, but very slick. Razor was a beast. No weepers, and a high grade DFS.
I still plan on getting a lot of this soap out to folks on here, but now I am worried it isn’t as good as I remember.
