Lol I'm probably a little late to the Rule/focus game I've been working on my technique for a couple of months. I started DE shaving because of neck irritation so I have been working on that since I started. Sent from my XT1609 using Tapatalk
Time for another MAYhem shave. This is my second Japanese disposable entry this month and a much better shave than the first one. While the Sayuri I used earlier this month was pretty much useless for shaving, this one actually has a decent blade. The blade is small, so it took a lot of strokes to get things done. But, I have a nice DFS today and am ready to start my week. I have one more MAYhem shave scheduled before the end of the month, so there is still an opportunity to provide some blood for the ghouls among you MAYhem SOTD Mike's Natural Soap Jayaruh #155 Brush Japanese Disposable Kamisori Lucky Tiger Chiseled Face Ghost Town Barber Have a great week!
Wonderful setup and photo. I have found the Artist Club Razors like the Asylum due to their size take a me little time to get dialed in.
And yet you have decided to hang with The 30 DC. Good choice. Or questionable judgement. Depends on how your S.O. looks at your "Shaving as a Hobby".
She's good with it lol. The hardest part is making it to the end of the month to using one soap and one AS I love mixing and matching. Sent from my XT1609 using Tapatalk
@wchnu - I've watched a few of your videos - much like watching outfield collisions - and I wonder. Do you put lather on a _dry_ face?
"Hi, my name is @LevelupShaves and I'm an addict. I love mixing and matching shave soaps and aftershaves." "Hi @LevelupShaves and welcome to Shaving Acquisition Disorders Anonymous. We call ourselves the 30DC because unlike other 12-Step Programs, we encourage our members to take it 30 Days at a time. While you're fighting your SAD this month, would you like to shave with a twig razor to take your mind off?"
Very cool Brian, we were never able to get a good face shot of my son before he was born because his hands were always in front of his face. He's going to be loads of fun!
May 22 - Hot and Cold, Hot and Cold and Hot and Cold Merkur 34C Rapira Super Stainless Chrome (day 1) 23mm AOS Pure Badger/ GP Scuttle DIY PSO Stirling Orange Chill Alum/Thayers/Nivea Decided to go back to Orange Chill. I like orange scents and this one, to me is great. It also has a nice touch of menthol. Was first exposed to it from the pass around box and now I have a full tub. Using just hot tap water, I prepped my GP scuttle. Flooded the bowl and the inner chamber while it was warming up and then replaced the water just before use. Worked well. Was very interesting getting the lather to be applied nice and warm and then have the menthol kick in and cool everything down. 3.25 passes yielded a BBS. These Rapira SS Chrome seem to be sharper than the regular SS. Either than or having 2 days growth was easier to work with. Alum barely indicated its presence except for a spot or two which was light. Excellent shave overall.
This is the essence of the workday shave. If you look clean shaven, you are clean shaven! Two precise passes, focusing on angle and pressure...with good skin stretches. The idea is to develop an almost robotic approach. If you do this, you'll find that the results will naturally improve. Focus on the shave, and just let the results happen. Judge your process, not your results! Very good work, sounds like you'll be all squared away really soon.
