SOTD May 21st Gillette Sheraton Rapira PL (2) Stirling 24mm Synthetic Blades Grim Smolder After remembering that most early Gillette razors were marketed as "adjustable" simply by opening them up a little I decided to see if I could add some MAYhem to an otherwise very mild razor. After locking down the Sheraton fully I opened it back up a 1/4 turn. I did notice that there was some increased blade gap due to the blade sitting a little flatter in the razor head. Built a beautifully slick lather and away we go. Yes indeed, that is what the razor needed! It went from feeling like a blue tip to feeling like a NEW. I was in a bit of a hurry as I was trying to get ready for some company so I went with 2 passes WTG and DATG and ended up with a very close DFS. A splash of smolder AS and got a comment from my wife that I was smelling good!! Have a great day friends!
This is knowledge! When I first started this journey, my workday shave was 3 passes. Now I'm down to 2.5. The half pass is for my neck, where the hair grows every which way.
Soooo.... Did @Bookworm just identify the final Mayhem challenge? A challenge so daring, so stupid, that even the one who made the challenge won't try it? Men of daring on the right, those willing to hold their beers on the left. Who's in?
That is a little MAYhem. Every time I have shaved with the doors loose, it didn't go too well. The blade always seem to to vibrate and rattle. I have had my worst cuts with a DE when doing that by mistake.
Sometimes I wipe my face with a damp rag. I shower before shaves so the skin is usually somewhat damp anyway.
Went for a mild Mayhem shave today. Broke out the CBJ Pain Stick I haven’t used since last year. Decided to go with the Kai Mild blades instead of the Dorcos. The box of Dorcos had water damage, and I can’t tell if it affected the blades unless I use them. Lathered up my new L&L soap. This soap is soft. Somewhere between Beaver Woodwright and Barrister & Mann. Not a bad thing, but if you work the brush like it owes you money wrote you a bad check you get half the tub on your brush. I treated it like it was only a little late. Built a nice slick, shiny, and thick lather. Did two passes with the pain stick. I had a mole I keep meaning to have a dermatologist look at. It has kind of taken a beating this mayhem, and today the pain stick managed to remove all of it that was above skin level. Probably still need to have it looked at, but most of it is gone now. Alum was pretty warm, and the aftershave stung. Shave was a high grade DFS though. Have my Don’t Panic shave planned for Thursday, so may just have three day’s worth of whiskers to work on.
I used the Fat Boy with the last 1/4 turn undone, on number nine with a Feather blade. After noticing my WTG pass was quite loud, and rinsing the razor I clued in on the tighten down lapse. Riding the Cap FTW! Next I use my Red Tip I'll give this a try...
