Clint, I am sure no pun was intended with the statement, 'crappy morning'. Sounds like an understatement. So sorry to hear you had a flare up. Will pray for a quick return to normalcy. Hang in there. Wishing you all the best. Frank P.S. nice photo
Congrats on finding a forgotten soap. I have more than my fair share stuck in the back of the cabinet.
Frank, Thank you for the kind words. For me it is the deep pain on the lower left side. It feels about 2 inches or so deep and it's like a hot knife stabbing into the gut.
I've been back from Vacation since Friday Night, but between driving home, finishing the deck this past weekend, and a hectic first day back at work, I still seem to be trying to get caught up. Let's see... a great shave on Thurs from the Slim and German Wilkie... a less-spectacular (but still decent) shave on Sunday from the Gem Featherweight and a Blue Star I started before leaving. That brings us to today... May 23, 2017 Razor: D1 Gillette TV Special SuperSpeed Blade: German Wilkie (3) Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22 Cream: KMF fragrance-free Post: Alum, Listerine The TV Special was one of two razors which were waiting for me when I got back from vacation. This one was something of an impulse buy. I've been wanting to try a 50's Flare Tip for a while and saw this one with a "Best Offer" option. I ended up paying $9.99 shipped. Overall condition is decent (no case, however) and I need to work some more on some dark spots on the handle. As for the shave... I have to admit that I had no problems adjusting to this razor. I'm assuming that the head geometry is enough like the 40's SS and the Fatboy on 4 that muscle memory pretty much took over. The razor also seems to have a nice bit of heft to it, though I've not tried to compare weights with the 40's or 60's versions. Two passes to a near-BBS with no blood or irritation. I expect this razor to be getting much more use in the month to come. Tomorrow's shave will likely be with the other razor that I received- a Clix with bakelite baseplate and handle (wartime?) which a coworker found for me at a flea market.
Lets keep that option for Cinco de Julio. That's where Mayhem spills over into July, and we see how many people are willing to shave with it. I think we have demonstrated this month that it is possible to get good results with less than stellar gear, so I hope we have lots of participation in Cinco de Julio.
Tell them "I'll be wchnu until you fix it.". And that you shave with rigged up coat hangers. That should get them moving. Or something. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
That was my original concept.. but the sides of the inner hole may be too thin for a good spring wire. You could end up with a warped blade, and that'd be worse than @mrchick 's 'double edged finger'.
Nice coworker John! How about a pic of the Clix( ok, quiet down in the peanut gallery) if you're so inclined.
No problem, I've actually been meaning to. It's in pretty decent shape though I need to work on cleaning the case more. I'm not sure what version this is, especially given that it has the cap with pins rather than guide bars.
I received a package in the mail yesterday. @twhite found my birth quarter razor in the wild and sent it to me. I decided to give it a spin this morning with a Feather blade. What a nice shave. I'm smoooooth. Thank you Tom! Route 66 Sweeney Todd B-400 Brush by Tom Gillette Blue Tip Feather Blade Lucky Tiger Ogallala Bay Rum Have fun!
