After using only this one brush for the month I think I have it sorted out. Tonights shave was great. It whipped up the vintage Colgate barbershop soap like a champ. The 1918 OLD did a super job with a sputnik blade. I was reading you guys talking about them and remembered I had a new one. I finished off the shave with the Special Reserve. Nice. Veddy nice. This set will be going for sale soon so it is my last shave with the almost 100 year old.
Today, though I diverted a bit from my Asylum RX focus, I still kept focus on SE razors hehehe I couldn't help myself ,as this beauty was tempting me with its allure since its arrival last week... I couldn't help myself. I succumbed. And glad I am that I did! 26.05.2017 Fantastic shave with this Ever-Ready 1912 with a GEM PTFE blade. Very smooth experience with no unpleasant sensations, weepers, or razor burn after the shave. If I was forced to make a not so positive comment it would be that the blade showed some slight chatter on the against the grain pass on the neck area below the chin, but nothing that resulted in cuts or weepers. With a very light hand I was able to easily surpass that. The Calani soap had a fantastic showing also. Lather explosion, very slick, and an orange jam scent that flooded the bathroom. On the skin the scent dissipated a bit quicker than i hoped for, but then there was the balm... If the soap it's orange jam, the balm is like rubbing the face with the skin of 100 fresh oranges. An exquisite experience indeed, and to end on the same note I had to squeeze a cup of orange juice from my father-in-law oranges to start a new day with a kick of vitamin C. Gentlemen, wish you a fantastic day and a great weekend.
Great shave this AM with Stirling coconut and lime. The smell is coconut with a hint of citrus which almost gives it a pina colada vibe. Totally awesome! Paying attention to beard pattern has slightly improved my neck area to where I am getting a DFS+ shave in 3 passes without cleanup required. I think it's probably time to start trying out more of the ever expanding razor collection in June.

May 26, 2017 Colonial Razors “The General” Feather Pro BSB-2 with Vie Long 2 Band Mystic Water Lavender Lime Floid Blue Happy Friday everyone. The Lavender Lime has a hint of citrus but the primary scent is Lavender. I do wish the scent strength was amped up a bit. Sticking with a 2 pass shave and touch ups ended in a near BBS. The one spot on my bottom right neck proves my nemesis on most work mornings. Finished off with a splash of Floid Blue and I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has great Friday.
Thank you, Clint. The cream is really pretty nice, and like the soap it's a good value. It is slick and easy to work into a nice lather. The scent is pleasing as well, and it's quite a bit different than the soap for those who don't like the soap scent.
SOTD May 26, 2017 Blade: GEM Stainless Razor: GEM Featherweight Brush: Omega 10049 boar Lather: Mitchell's Wool Fat Post: Witch hazel, Fine American Blend aftershave WTG, touch-up Nice shave with my Friday setup. I love the big boar brush that whips up excellent lather each and every time from The Fat. Nice finish with Fine American Blend. Fifth consecutive shave with the Featherweight and I'm missing my injectors. I'll go back to an injector for my next shave, either tomorrow or Sunday. I've enjoyed the SEs this month but also love my injectors. Have a great FRIDAY!
8th shave, 5th consecutive day of shaving and I think 6th shave with the same blade. Pretty good shave, still a little burn from the alum on my chin. Definitely becoming more confident and faster and loving it. Thinking I'm going to add a third pass, XTG the opposite direction to get a smoother shave. Happy Friday and happy shaving!
26 May 2017 MAYhem TGIF Blade/Soap Focus Shave Pre: Hot water Razor: 1952 Gillette Super Speed Black Tip Blade: Voskhod Teflon Coated Brush: JR#161 NY Mets Special Edition Soap: Taconic Bay Rum Post: Hot/Cold rinse, alum block, cold towelx2, Dominello Vitali Calming Post Shave Moisturizer After Shave: Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum Last day of my Caribbean Shave experience. Today it was Taconic Bay Rum Shave Cream. This "cream" looks more like a soap along the lines of, well any soap you want to name. I have been using it by scooping out some putting it in my bowl and beating the crap out of it to get a lather. Now I am going to treat it like a soap. Anyway, JR#161, doing a much better job than its namesake team, whipped the Taconic into a fantastic smelling, slick lather. The Super Speed/Voskhod mowed down my weekday stubble for another BBS shave. The difference between the Voskhod and the Shark is so small that I'm probably going to alternate between the two as the spirit moves me. The wife and I are going down to Virginia to see my youngest on Saturday, so I'll shave for a sixth day with the Voskie tomorrow and get back on the GEM Featherweight on Monday. Three day weekends are great. Believe it or not this is the first time in my working life that I am on a "normal" off day schedule. TGIF my friends and enjoy your long weekend. For those of you in my former profession who will be out protecting and serving, stay safe and do it to them before they do it to you!
May, 26, 2017 Razor: Clix Blade: German Wilkie (5) Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22 Cream: KMF fragrance-free Post: Listerine, WH Second shave with the bakelite Clix razor and a well-used German WS blade. Despite not quite getting the lather wet enough, it was a smooth shave to a definite DFS+. Definitely a fun little razor.
Congrats, you are making solid progress. Just focus on the technique and you'll be surprised how much improvement you make.
