I actually have another week for my 30 day rule, came in a little late. But after that I may start switching out blades and soaps. An awesome shave this morning! Dialed back a teeny bit on the WTG detail and rushed a little since I got in the bathroom a little late and got my first weeper on my chin in like a week. After 2 passes I discovered I still had plenty of time for a 3rd pass so went XTG the opposite direction. Also discovered that I can do WTG on the bottom of my neck and just go all the way up to my jaw on the second pass for XTG on my upper neck and below my jaw. Only a little tinge from the alum here and there and a DFS. Happy shaving everyone!
PAL's are my favorite. I do not know that the carbon blades shave different one from the other. I know some will say they do. I have just always preferred the PAL. On the road ....across the pond. Still a nice looking set up no matter where it is.
June 1 (Thursday ) - playing with anew razor Gem Damaskeene OC / Gem PTFE ( 4 ) shimmed Alluminati Envy White brush The Red Green Duct Tape Special frankensoap Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Astringent Aftershave June got off to a great start with the smoothest shave I have ever enjoyed from a Gem-style SE. I premiered the Gem Damaskeene OC that I won in last month's TSD raffle. I shimmed the blade with a half spine to replicate the thickness of the original carbon Gem Damaskeene blades. The Envy White brush whipped up gobs of lather from my Italian frankensoap and then it was time for the razor to strut its stuff. Two passes later I had a near BBS with no grumbling from the alum and only a mild sting from the alcohol in the aftershave. It was a great first result from the razor and a fantastic start to the morning! Here are the culprits:
Great that you liked it. That one is a closed comb though not the open comb (OC). They do give great shaves!!!!
Not the best shave I can do to begin the month of Flags, Fathers, Golf, and Wimbledon. It appeared to begin all right, maybe I should have stopped with just the one pass(of the Fields&Streams soap). Also, once again I was a little careless on the right cheek. Fields is better than this, so I'll just blame technique.
Very nice, Clint. You have me looking into an H1 Calypso. Cool photo Jim! Nice setup, its always good to learn something new that makes your shaves just that much better! Nice Dammy, I've got one waiting in the wings for me to take for a spin.
For June, what shall it be ... I've acquired a few new razors that need to be taken for a spin (Too many for the month actually). I will finish week one out with the pre-war Tech, then perhaps I will compare it to a Clix Bakelite, followed by my Milord. Finally I will be using my Birthyear and quarter Black Beauty for my birthday and last week of the month. Hopefully I will manage to get another brush restore done this month and maybe just maybe will be lucky enough to hit it big on the 30day LE Brush lottery!

They're going good, smooth and sharp. Noticed a little drop off today. Slight tugging on my neck XTG. Tomorrow it'll be off to the blade bank after my morning shave. Blue Stars this coming week.
How are you liking the Shark Super Chrome's? It's a dead heat in my '52 Super Speed Black Tip between them and the Voskhod's.
1 June 2017 Blade Focus Shave Yes, I know MAYhem is over, but I just saw this the other day. Today's first shave of June was C O Bigelow. My Omega 6212 Silvertip whipped it up into a really nice lathering. The PAL blade is in the homestretch and is looking good. 2.5 passes, however there was a little tugging XTG on my neck. Splashed on Proraso Green A/S and my day was off to a great smelling start. See you around the campus.
