June 2017!!!
Trials and Tribulations
My focus this month is to return to the Grand Blade Trials. I'm still a long way from being done so I'm going to focus on the next batch of blades. AND get the review blog and catalogue site going full speed as well. That's the "trials". The "tribulations"? Well, since MAYhem was so much extra MAYhem that blew me out of the shaving MAYhem I had planned, I'm going to revisit some of my planned shaves from May. Some of those will definitely be more of a tribulation than usual. My specific plan is six days a week with trial blades, two blades a week, and the seventh day will be the tribulation shave. Should be informative and a fun all at the same time! So....let's get it started!

Going back to blade trial setups, specifically the Fatboy (or Slim at times) and Arko. Mild 3 setting for the first shave and the blade is the Indian Super-Max Platinum Plus. Super-Max is a large manufacturer who bought up Vidyut and Malhotra. With headquarters in Dubai, UAE, they distribute in over 150 countries with 19 regional offices, including in the U.S. They have also made inroads into disposable carts and razors as well and push those heavily in Europe and other markets. They still make a variety of DE blades and with Vidyut and Malhotra on board they are large force to be reckoned with.
The blade was impressive on the mild 3. the JR46 and Arko lays down lather as fast and easy as anything I've ever used and the blade was very smooth and effective. Nice reduction on the first pass and the second pass and touch ups brought a near-BBS. Alum was quiet so irritation was at a minimum. It will be interesting to see how well the blade will perform at higher settings and should also give a better indication of its sharpness. My feeling after the first shave is to rate it high on the sharpness scale. We'll see if that hold across two more shaves.
I've always thought a trip to Dubai would be fun. I haven't played tennis in many years but I'd give it a go on their most famous court!
