I used my Henry Sears and Son razor today and it was a fine shave. Three passes and I'm mostly BBS! I honed this razor about 7 or 8 shaves back and the edge is as good as the day I honed it. My Drygulch horse hide strop helps keep the blade in tip top shape. I took out the Ever Ready C40 brush for its maiden voyage. This is the brush that I won in the May TSD raffle. I reknotted it with a Maggards 22mm synthetic. This brush did a wonderful job in whipping up a nice lather from the Stirling glacial lemon chill. Depending on my work schedule, I'll be back with my SRs By Friday or Saturday. Till then, all I can do is watch this thread and be envious.
This is rapidly becoming my favorite straight razor. Today's shave could've been one of and done for a DFS. I did a second pass for BBS. Art Razor Le Chef
The big Kropp performed it's usual magic. This is a wonderful razor in all respects. Headed out to my youngest's HS graduation and wanted to look and feel my best. It was my first time using a TFS soap and I was impressed. It lathered so easily, had a great scent and was very slick. I really enjoyed this soap. Three passes with the Chimera and I ended up with a DFS. The Chatillon Lux aftershave complimented the soap and left my face feeling refreshed and hydrated. I shaved 9 hours ago and can still smell the AS. Have a great day folks!
Today's shave was with a newly acquired, restored, and honed razor. It was in a little rough shape, so I did what I could, and re-blued the tang, as it originally was. It took a fantastically sharp and smooth edge. I had a very noisy, and smooth 2 pass shave, that left me near BBS, with zero touch-ups, or issues. I've never heard or seen this brand razor, it is definitely well built, and a keeper. Razor- "Aerial" Aerial Cut. MFG & Co. Marinette Wis. I haven't had the opportunity to try a CF but my worst nightmare would be to try and flatten a 1/4" swayback arkie. One that's relatively flat is all the fun I need.
Tonight's shave was with a Japanese razor. I had a super smooth 2 pass shave, like a hot knife through butter. This left me BDBS with zero issues. I still have a fondness for Japanese blades.
