Ryan, hope you can help with this.. This Aristocrat Jr 48 set has a razor with end caps. The set looks unused and, apart from instructions is complete; even has the paper blade. Is this just a later production date? Any thoughts appreciated.

Is the TTO knob solid or hollow? Also, what pat. number is on it?

It's a #48, and since those were introduced with a hollow knob, and only made from 1948-1949, I would guess that it was made in 1949, when the British switched to a solid knob. The razor is original to the set, and most likely NOS.
Unfortunately, it's a 1940's Rocket mismatched with an Aristocrat case (from the 1930's). Those are very nice shavers, but not an Aristocrat or an Aristocrat Jr.
How do you know it's an Aristocrat Jr.?

Edit: Without the original case, any diamond baseplate style Aristocrat Jr. is identical to the far more common Rocket, (which were often gold plated). The exception is the #58, which has unique knurling.

I see that, and I've never seen that particular model before. I'm glad there's still stuff out there for me to learn. It's still not an Aristocrat Jr. or an Aristocrat. It's definitely an upscale set though. I wonder if @mr-razor knows more about it than what he posted on his website. Might be a Popular Razor set, or perhaps a Christmas set? It probably sold for more than the Aristocrat Jr., and less than the Aristocrat.

I believe I found one today in a little antique store out of town. Flat base plate, slightly convex TTO knob, brit pat 430030. #51/#53?

The printing on the flat base plate is hard to read, but - without knowing any better - this razor looks like at 1948-9 Gillette Aristocrat Junior.

Would the rounded bottom on the tto knob not make it a 51/53?

it looks like a #51/53 produced between 1949-52 ish.rounded solid knob, flat baseplate.earlier models had hollow knob , later had triangular type base plate. j1.jpg j3.jpg

    I'm guessing on these ...

I think one is an Aristocrat Jr and a Rocket came in from Greece. The look pretty good even with a small amount of plate loss on the crat jr.

If you need more pics let me know, but may take a week to get them on here due to moving.

No need. The one on the left is definitely an Aristocrat Jr.
