Mastro Livi RWL34: a Stellar Fabulous Edge!​

The more I use a Mastro Livi RWL34 razor, the more I know how great are the straight razor made with this fabulous stainless steel. They simply take an incredible edge that, coupled with the superior Mastro Livi's craftsmanship in creating extra full hollow blades by hand and by using his wheel grinders only, give a super smooth and close shave. I am so happy I took this Mastro Livi RWL34 with me for this month's trip and it is giving me the very best shaves. As for the rest of the today's shave setup, I used an Omega bristle brush which easily mounted a rich lather from Cella shaving soap, ended with the very cool and refreshing touch of the magnificent Floïd Blue aftershave. A perfect Mastro Livi RWL34 shave!​

Ritual Razor Cleaning of the Edwin Jagger Kelvin complete with Voskhod blade at the ready:


Great shave today. 1-pass + spot cleanup. I got a weeper on my neck during the clean up while trying to get every spot super-close with a couple of cross-grain strokes. The weeper was all my fault by not using proper technique on the 1st pass around that spot. I think it was already irritated by my mistake on the 1st pass and all it took was a counter angle stroke to break the skin.

The Catie's Bubbles cream soap is fantastic. It loaded within just 5-6 seconds and I went about 3-4 seconds longer on the load than I needed to. It lathered thick and rich, almost yogurt-like cream that was luxurious and moisturizing. The slickness and protection are about as good as it gets. His French "Croap" style cream soap from last year which is more 'airy' and soft....I kind of like that old formula better. But this one is still a '10' on all fronts. The post-shave feel is just amazing. My aftershave was just witch hazel, so all of the moisture my skin was sporting came from this soap.

In the opening of the cologne there is a touch of what smells like this soap, so it initially seems to match. Tomorrow I hope a trace of the fragrance remains so that I can compare directly to the soap for confirmation of a decent match.

The shave was great. I generally have gotten a high probability of a weeper when I put a new blade into my Edwin Jagger Kelvin, but after the 2nd shave it does a dream job. So far the best blades have been Feather HI-Stainless and Personna Med Prep in the EJ Kelvin.

Dang nice set. Love the bowl that Penhaligon's London makes.

The Bullet Tip is one of my favorite SE's. It's a great little razor that's built like a tank.
