I found this today at the local thrift store. I do not recall seeing this design. It is quality piece of pottery. The glazing is excellent. I have included three pics of the top and the branding on the bottom. I tried my best to make the brand more readable but this is the best I can do. Also, I am not sure how one is to use this piece of pottery. I guess you fill the large trough with hot water which will make it "scuttle like"? Dip the brush in to the trough while making lather? A most unusual design. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. BTW - the cost was $1.99
I would lay a piece of paper over the imprint and do the gentle rubbing trick with a pencil to see if that makes the mark show up better.
That odd angle of the trough makes me think it's intended for something dry. Maybe a dip/salsa bowl with a chip/cracker holder.
I agree that it is for soup and crackers, but don't let that stop you! It could be great as a scuttle too!!
There are dummies then real dummies. I am the latter on this. I apologize for my ignorance on this one. Let's see.....some soft soap where the crackers go....may be able to re-purpose this pottery after all. Thanks to @PLANofMAN for identifying the branding.
