  1. Good luck on quitting smoking. I quit seven years ago and it was the hardest thing I've ever done, but worth it! You can do it!
  2. UGH, LAX! The #2 airport that I go to great pains to avoid whenever possible!
Loveley Bird, Doug! Im very curious to see what you decide on refinishing. Course I like the stainless look too!
    30DC Cypress stud!
At the price point that they go for I wonder in Super-Max might be the budget value winner blade choice.
Ah, the boys in black! I was caught in the concert traffic on my afternoon commute. I would have loved to have gone to see them but my wife and I don't share the same taste in music anymore. That and going to concerts isn't really in the family budget anymore.
I wish you strength in you endeavor. I know quitting isn't ease, but well worth it.
Palmolive makes a great lather. I have a seldom used stick that I will get to eventually.

    Clix Bakelite
    Personna Platinum
    Tabac
    Stirling 24MM Synthetic

First shave with the Clix bakelite was had last night. My first impression were that this razor is much more aggressive then the Tech. That combined with its light weight and one better pay attention to technique and pressure. The other thing I noticed was that the head geometry kept the blade fairly flat and thus a very shallow handle angle was required to stay on the cap, This was rather difficult to maintain because it felt like the razor wanted to naturally fall into a much more aggressive blade angle. In the end I was able to keep on the cap and had a very nice DFS as result. As always Tabac made a super slick, very wet lather which I followed up with some of my homemade Tangerine AS. Have a great day my friends!

    TGIF!

  4. Thank you Jim :happy088:
  5. Fantastic picture of your son. He is growing up so quickly.
  6. Thank you Clint! He is! My wife is constantly saying "He's growing up too fast".
  7. Wow! He is growing fast.
  8. Because of my soap pass arounds and my SAD, I've been away from the creams for a couple of months. Today I went back to my original cream that brought me to the Dance - TOBS. There is a reason I am a fan boy out of this product. It's really good stuff, with great scents! Used the vie long inserted into my dad's handle, which continues to confirm that I prefer horsehair to boar at this point. With a finish of the captains choice 45th parallel AS prototype (not available on the market) my slim dialed at 4 provided me with a good shave this morning. IMG_1669.JPG

  9. Gorgeous brush, Randy! I'm very intrigued by the review that I've heard of 45th Parallel.
  10. Thanks, Andrew. The Captain is working on a final 45th Parrallel AS product and I was a beta tester for the last round. I liked it enough to buy a bottle as is, as I really enjoyed it. I'm sure the new product will be "new and improved", but I didn't want to wait. The brush was an inexpensive Cremo vie long my wife got at Target that I didn't really like. I broke it out of its handle, reset it in a handle turned by my Dad, and I dialed in the loft and hole diameter to my liking, and now I love the brush!
  11. Well, it's been a great vacation so far. We are still here until next week and then will be transitioning to Mobile, Alabama to visit in-laws, followed by a sojourn to Orange Beach, Alabama for a work conference at a beach hotel (probably won't be much conferencing going on). It's so nice to get away and relax! I hope you guys are having a great Friday and wish you a great weekend!

Here's a representation of the view from our deck. A little cloudy, but still nice.

  12. Great view, Perry!
  13. Wow. Got busy at work and haven't been on for a few days. 12 pages behind. Catching up now.
  14. And not a single shenanigan in it, other than Neal @NCoxSTL attempting a belated MayHEM use of the pink plastic eyebrow shaper kamisori ... with rather bloody results...
  15. Could I also suggest developing a large appreciation for sharpening things, and owning lots of sharp things like razors, knives, throwing axes, and pole arms? The father that showed teenaged me his gun collection never really worried me. The one that practiced and competed with Viking style throwing axes did.
  16. True story - my father in law is a somewhat renowned knifemaker. When things started getting serious dating his daughter (now my wife) we went to visit them in a cabin they have in NC. The first thing he said was "Do you want to go out back with me and throw some knives?" Obviously I had to answer yes, but was totally intimidated. Ironically, I cut myself throwing one of the knives, and my (then future) wife got furious with him, so it toned down the intimidating rhetoric a bit.

  19. Fantastic photo Doug. The Druida handle looks great on the Blackbird. I never knew other handles would work.
