Tomorrow is a nonshave day for yours truly. However, Sunday is the start of a new shave week. This week starts the blade auditions for my Shavey Award razor, a Schick Korona generously donated by Andrew @Linuxguile.

First up will be my baseline blade, the Gillette Silver Blue. I'm really stoked. This is my first non-Gillette DE. Still trying to figure out the soap/cream. Stay tuned sports fans!

I think you will find it a very intuitive razor to use. To me it seems they just fall into the correct angle.

So Monday starts a new week for my focus on no irritation I have two weeks left. One week will be Blades one week will be razors question for the 30 day club is which one should I do first same set up with different blades or same set up with different razors each day. The goal is to get to where it doesn't matter at all. I've done 2 weeks with no changes to my setup period, 2weeks with different software now I'm ready to start switching hardware just not sure which hardware to switch first.

I have been told to keep to one setup until I can shave without any alum tingle or burn. Once you have perfect technique would I even change anything.

Once you have that I would go with blade changes on the original razor. 2 weeks is nothing to be to really perfect a shave.

I would not contemplate a different razor until you have selected the perfect blade for the first one.

Or you can delay learning and do what I did and change soaps, blades and razors because , hell why not have some fun!!

After all, it is only blood and a scar!

I would agree with you but 2 things
    1. I've been using the Murkur 38C and Sharks for a month with pretty solid results only 2 real irritation days one was a busted Williams's Lather and 90% of the time Alum doesn't sting

    2. I love variety and can easily say my shaves didn't change much with different software at all most of my soaps are decent and I use them well. I'm interested in how much difference the Hardware plays in now.

If you set on making changes, I would go one razor with different blades. That way your razor angle remains the same, etc.

That makes sense I'll probably do that for a week or two with the same software and the 38C I've got the angle of that thing almost down to muscle memory

That's even better. Then you get a better feel for the differences in blades. Then identify a blade you want to focus on and try it across different razors. That helped me a lot, mostly in finding that the differences in most blades were minute and that I could get a good shave with most of them. There are exceptions, of course, but the differences between most were such that I could not tell a difference in a blind test

Friday June 9 - return of the Soap Opera

    Rockwell 6s on plate #3 / Topaz Platinum ( 1 )
LE30DC brush with Cashmere in Maple
    Gold Dachs Classic shaving soap
Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Astringent Aftershave

Back to alphabetical soaps tonight, starting off with Gold Dachs. This is a European triple milled vegan soap. The puck seems rather small for the price, but due to the milling, almost none of the weight is moisture content. Reviewers on the Fendrihan website claim the puck will last for "months".

The soap did load quickly and easily onto a damp synthetic brush without any perceptible wear on the puck.

It also whipped quickly into a good lather after I trickled a small palmful of water into the bowl. Unfortunately I then added more water, went too far, and reduced the lather to a thin soupy consistency that barely coated my face. Despite this, the soap did a decent job of providing protection. A couple times on my first pass, my razor almost seemed to stick, as though my face had been cleaned squeaky clean and now was damp without lubrication to allow glide. Nevertheless, I ended up without any nicks or weepers and with a silent alum rub. The alcohol splash did burn mildly tonight in spots but also quickly settled. Half an hour later, my face feels very clean and well-tended - and very very near a BBS.

I have no idea how to describe the scent of the soap. It smells vaguely spicy herbal but what the scent(s) is/are I haven't got a clue. Some sort of clean-smelling plants is the best I can do. It's a pleasant odour that I could smell daily without objection.

Overall I think this soap is a keeper, especially once I get the lather dialled in. I don’t believe it is in any way a difficult soap to use. I just screwed up tonight, and knew I was doing so as I did it.

Tomorrow I will try the Gold Dachs Sandelholz (sandalwood) version and this time I will try not to drown the lather.

    wchnu Duck Season!

Thank you. It is a work weekend so mostly sleep during the day.

Do you like the Maca root cream? I liked the old formula. Never could like the new one. Well newer now I guess.

    I agree with that.

    wchnu Duck Season!

So mail call today. @Bama Samurai sent some goodies from his London trip. A Boots and a D. R. Harris Windsor shave stick. Also some Classic Flake pipe tobacco. tmp_12382-20170609_151136127068760.jpg
Today I put the Boots to use with a ER 200/ TGN silver tip. I broke out a generic soligen straight and got a nice shave. Splashed on some Family Dollar kinda smells like old spice to finish up.
