A few years ago I bought some stuff from Shaveabuck and I received a Sabi 3 piece DE with an ivory handle. I used it perhaps five or six times since I have it and it seems like a very good razor, although I must say that compared to my 1950's Super Speed there's quite a difference in terms of aggressiveness. This Sabi is not what I'd call a very harsh razor but it's definitely not as forgiving as a Super Speed, Goodfella, or Ming Shi. It's very solidly constructed and the handle is big. Has anyone else here ever tried one?

Yep, have one now in rotation. What Shaveabuck called the T1 is being sold for $14.99 on Amazon as a Boss Razor. Excellent razor. You might experiment adding a shim which increases stability and smoothness a bit.

I use the Sabi T1 handle on my R41. Tis a shame that he is not online any more.

Handle and cap also a good match for the Pearl open comb baseplate.

I was tempted to get one of those back then, but I did not. I liked the handle.

The first DE razors I bought were from Shave-A-Buck. They are still in my rotation - though I have moved to more often Straight Razor shaving.
    1) Sabi 3-piece - chrome (3 inch handle, medium weight)- ACQUIRED 2011 - PAID $12

This is what I would call a mildly aggressive DE razor.

    2) Sabi 3 Piece Extra Heavyweight - Gold tone (4 inch handle, 4 ounces)- ACQUIRED 2011 - PAID $14

This is a moderately aggressive DE. For a long time (several years) it was my go to razor; my everyday shaver.
The gold tone has worn on it to the point that it looks like a vintage razor, but it still gives an excellent shave.

I thought Jeff described an ivory handled razor? Perhaps I misunderstood.

Plated brass but extremely heavy (total 136g I think) and quite a well done package. A steal.

Yep. I think it was the folks at Shaveabuck who offered me a free razor if I'd give it a review. They were just rolling out the Sabi razor. They sent me a couple. The handles were awesome, but the heads were manufactured so badly I couldn't shave with them. I said so to the website guys and they got mad with me- then sent me another. That one worked- I shaved and reviewed. The review was on TSD but I think it was the old site. (edit: found!) They sent me one of the long, heavy Sabi handles at some point. I still have it- it's awesome. Fits the Gillette razor heads I own. The additional weight makes an open comb Gillette NEW into quite the aggressive monster.

Found my original review. You can see it here: http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/sabi-three-piece-razors.22198/

The SABI head works well for me. Same as NY Shaving Mariner and Toro Mastiff

Hi, I have had my SABI T-1, and T-2 razors for quite awhile now. Two, maybe three years. -

They are gorgeous handles. I not only love the way they look, but with a non SABI head they are great performers. On my T-2 (silver colored) handle, I keep a Pearl OC on. The balance of the handle is such that it really works well with the T-2. The T-1 I usually use one of my gold Old Type, or New heads. I'm glad I scored them when I did. They really are great handles.

I'm still a bit nervous with the Sabi for some reason. I find I have to shave more slowly and I need to keep the door of the bathroom closed until I'm finished!

Although my shave was a good BBS, it came at a cost because the Sabi gave me two weepers. Ah well, I think it'll have to go back to sleep for a while!
